Ihad been told that my maternal great great grandmother was Native American and born on areservation in Oklahoma. The East Asian and Sub-Saharan African percentages were a little of asurprise but I suppose that the percentages are so low that it could just be noise. Even though theNA was 0%, the red bar indicated that it was 2 times less likely to be as much as 12% and for theAF group which was set at 2% had a red bar indicating that it could be at the most 8%. Interesting thatthe test should come up 25% NA and 21% EA, instead of 50% NA (25% added to 21% is 46%,which is close to 50%). My paternal Grandmother is of known half Spanish and Portuguese andhalf Native American (Pueblo Tribes), and we have paper documentation of this side of my familygoing back to the 1700s. 2005 Entries into Kerchner's DNAPrint Test Results Loglater waves of migrations from Asia to the Americas, which might show up on the test as "EastAsian", but is really a later migratory wave, like the Na-Dene peoples such as the Navajo andApache. It’s possible that the 21% East Asian in my Grandmother could be evidence of Navajo orApache admixture with the Pueblo. Also interesting, is that my test was consistent with theknowledge of my Grandmother being 50% Native American (my expected NA was 12.5% and Itested for 16%). Additionally, I do have known East Asian (Filipino) descent from my paternaland maternal Grandfathers, NOT from my paternal and maternal Grandmothers. It could be thatmy results were more ‘accurate’ because I have both recent East Asian AND Native Americanancestry, and the test was better able to distinguish between the two. If my paternal Grandmotheris really 25% NA and 21% EA instead of 50% NA, it would make sense that my DNA test wouldshow up with less NA and more EA, which it did not. The test is apparently confusing NA with EAand vise versa. It seems very common, judging by the numerous other posts on this website bypeople who have known Native American descent, but come up with East Asian results. I have read that people with NAor Mediterranean IE test for small amounts of SSAF, so the SSAF showing up is not that much ofa surprise. The 2.5 test seemed to be accurate, as it rather accurately represented my ethnicbackground. Both my maternal and paternal grandfathers are 100% Filipino, I have a maternalgrandmother who is 100% German and a paternal grandmother who is 50% Spanish andPortuguese and 50% Native American (Pueblo Tribes). Both my parents have 'mixed' ancestry, asdo I. This made me 50% Filipino (25% from Father, 25% from Mother), 25% German (fromMother), 12.5% Spanish and Portuguese and 12.5% Native American-Pueblo Tribes (fromFather). When you add it all up (50% EA, 37.5% IE, 12.5% NA), it is very close to the results ofthe 2.5 test (48% EA, 34% IE, 16% NA, 2% SSAF). I had taken the 2.0 test a few months earlierand received very different results. 2005 Entries into Kerchner's DNAPrint Test Results Logsurprised by my DNAPrint 2.0 results, which suggested that I was 89 percent Indo-European, and11 percent East Asian. I never seriously believed I was descended from actual "East Asians" -most less from Native Americans - and assumed that this Asiatic 11 percent was of ancient CentralAsian origin - perhaps Finno-Ugrian - that had found its way into both European and East Asianpopulations thousands of years ago. When I took DNAPrint 2.5, my Indo-European ancestry wascorrected to 100 percent, which I would have expected the first time around. I took the Euro-DNA1.0 test to see how "white bread" I really was, expecting about 90 percent "Northern European".Instead, the test pegged me as only 62 percent "Northern European" - 20 to 25 percent less thanfor the "average" Northern European or Irishman, according to AncestryByDNA's charts. I wasalso 22 percent Southeastern European, and 16 percent Middle Eastern. This does not come as atotal surprise. My "trueborn English" grandfather had curly black hair, an aquiline nose, oliveskin, and a short, wiry build, while my Irish grandfather - according to the only photo I have ofhim - could have walked the streets of Kabul without attracting attention. My Y-DNA haplotype, although R1b, has a DYS393 value of 12, which is more typical of R1b in Anatolia, Syria,Armenia, Macedonia and other such places, than of R1b in the British Isles. I had recently begunto think that this geographical resemblance was simply an accident, an illusion created by a single1 step mutation. Now, considering that 38 percent of my DNA appears to come from that samegeneral area, it no longer seems infeasible that my Y-DNA could, too. Also, considering that 90percent of my "known" ancestry lies in England and Southern Scotland, my relatively highpercentages of Southeastern European and Middle Eastern DNA lend credence to my contentionthat the Anglo-Scottish Border folk (the Border Reivers, to wit) are at least partly descended fromRoman troops and settlers, many of whom came from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and who manned Hadrian's Wall and the fortresses of North Britain at a time when that regionwas conspicuously underpopulated.Email address (To use delete '-Tuesday-' and add @ sign in that position): jvance-Tuesday-tiac.netGuest: B.J. I was very surprised to find 10% EA and a littlesurprised to find 4% SSAF and amazed that there was no NA at all. I was adopted by my paternalgrandparents and was always told that my mothers family was small and dark. I too am the"black sheep" among the blue eyes of my paternal family and was presumed to be NA in part. Iresemble the Bannock Shoshone people. Then I got these tests done and am fairly confused. I'dlike to know how far back the EA is as I also have an unknown 16474T in the HVR1 that doesn'tshow up in the Concordance. However I understand that this test "lumps" all Y and MtDNAtogether. On the paternal line the paper trail is quite thorough and goes back to the 1600's andeven further and indicates purely European. Specifically Ireland, Prussia, Germany, England andThe Netherlands. Much of the paternal family has been in America since the earliest days. Mynext step will be to have my son tested and just see what happens.Email address (To use delete '-Thursday-' and add @ sign in that position): Duffield12345-Thursday-MSN.COMGuest: CSDDate-Time: Monday, February 07, 2005 at 13:09:55 (CST)My Expected Results for IE,EA,NA,SSAF Population Groups: 80,?,?,?My Actual DNAPrint Results for IE,EA,NA,SSAF Population Groups: 90,10,0,0DNAPrint Test and/or Euro add-on Test Version Number: 2.5Date DNAPrint Test and/or Euro add-on Test Was Ordered: feb 2005Comments: mtDNA = Haplogroup H (half the people in the world!) Since i am adopted, I do not knowmuch about my father's side of the family, except that he was probably pretty much like mymom's side. I was surprised to see the 10% east asian as opposed to native American. Now I readthat the 2 are almost impossible to distinguish. Why do they have a separate class for NativeAmerican then? I have also read other stories about people who claim that there is no way theycan have east asian. One story where 2 (proven) full brothers tested way different. One 7% EAand the other 12% NA, or something like that.
