Emma BrownHi, I’m Emma Brown from Hokitika on the West Coast of New Zealand. I’m 16 years old,a Year 12 student and am attempting to get as much out of life as possible. To do thisI get involved in various sports teams, debating, Westland District Youth Council, parttime working and being involved in forums such as the Youth and Diversity Forum heldat Te Papa Museum in Wellington in August 2005, whenever possible.I like to think outside the square and try new things as much as I can. I’m keen to sharemy views and opinions, as well as hear other people’s, which is why forums such asthose mentioned, interest me. I believe in my community there is a good understandingand acceptance of diversity and, to my knowledge, also in New Zealand as a whole.However there’s always room for improvement and new ideas. I think we as NewZealanders should be proud of every aspect of our community, including our diversityand we should let this be known.By making an effort and taking on new challenges and ideas, I feel we could make amarked difference in our communities, increasing community pride, as well as pridewithin ourselves. New Zealand is a great place. It should be known and celebrated.Peace.8
