The NZ Diversity Action Programme1. Develop a network of people andorganizations that share a visionand a concern for harmoniousrelationshi<strong>ps</strong> in a diverse andinclusive New Zealand.2. Establish a forum through theinternet, with information <strong>page</strong>sand a web-portal to new andexisting sites about New Zealand’sdiverse communities.3. Create a centre for the study andpromotion of cultural diversitythat is able to lead research,inform debate, and connectpeople in different institutions andorganizations.4. Conduct a public conversationabout our constitutional, legislativeand institutional framework toprotect human rights includingdiversity.5. Focus on education and youththrough a review and reform of theschool curriculum to ensure thatcivics, values, languages, historiesand cultures are part of the corecurriculum and that there are highquality resources to support it.6. Foster diversity in the media sothat they reflect and promotethe diversity of our society, boththrough greater diversity in themainstream media and through thestrengthening of Maori, Pacific andother ethnic media to give voice toall New Zealanders.7. Support the successful settlementof refugees and migrants, throughthe development of migrantsettlement plans for every localarea by local authorities inconjunction with iwi, migrant,community and business grou<strong>ps</strong>,as well as health, education, policeand other government serviceproviders.8. Celebrate diversity throughcultural festivals and diversity inthe arts, with increased centraland local government supportfor communities, artists andperformers.9. Provide connections to our heritagethrough the involvement of allethnic communities in historic,cultural and natural conservationand telling the diverse storiesabout our land and our histories.10.
