Superintendent's Considerations and RecommendationsIt was moved by Ms. Schafer, seconded by Mr. Dressler, to approve the followingactions, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent:1 - The PT Center for Sports MedicineApprove the contract with The PT Center for Sports Medicine for services of acertified athletic trainer from August 1, 2007 to June 20, 2008, as presented.2 - Getting It Right For Ohio’s FutureAdopt the following resolution:WHEREAS, Ohio’s school-funding system has been declared unconstitutionalfour times by the Ohio Supreme Court since 1997; andWHEREAS, we believe the Ohio General Assembly has not provided asystematic overhaul of the school-funding system and reduced an over-reliance onproperty taxes to fund schools; andWHEREAS, the proposed Getting It Right For Ohio’s Future constitutionalamendment will provide every child a high-quality education by declaringeducation as a fundamental right; andWHEREAS, the proposed constitutional amendment will reduce the frequency forlocal school tax levy requests and provide immediate property tax relief for seniorcitizens and disabled citizens; andWHEREAS, the proposed constitutional amendment will protect state funding forschool facilities, local government and higher education; andWHEREAS, the proposed constitutional amendment will assure a steady, fairfunding mechanism for our public schools;<strong>THE</strong>REFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the <strong>Copley</strong>-<strong>Fairlawn</strong> <strong>City</strong> Board ofEducation hereby extends its full support to the Getting It Right For Ohio’sFuture constitutional amendment for the good of public education in the state ofOhio and the best interests of our children; and be itFUR<strong>THE</strong>R RESOLVED, that we encourage all Ohioans to embrace thisamendment by supporting the signature drive to place the initiative on theGeneral Election ballot and voting to adopt this proposed amendment to the OhioConstitution.3 - School Library Media MonthAdopt the following resolution:WHEREAS, April 2007 has been designated the 22 nd annual National SchoolLibrary Media Month; andWHEREAS, the purpose of the school library media program is to ensure thatstudents and staff are effective users of ideas and information; andWHEREAS, lifelong learning begins and is systematically developed through thelibrary media curriculum of the elementary and secondary schools; and
