The Sash and Transoms areequipped with auxiliary (double glazing) glass,which is held in the sash with thumb-releasefasteners. A moisture proof gasket is used insealing the installation of auxiliary glass to reducethe transmission of air and to provide maximuminsulation so essential for correctly air-conditionedhomes. <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong> Clos-Tite Casements areBurglar-Proof, too. Whenthe sash is open, sufficient space permits cleaningthe outside of the glass while standing in the room.The top of all ventilators are equipped with a springbronze metal cap covering the upper edge of the sash. The bread and cakedrawer, BW-3830, which is located in the bottom ofany of the drawer units is made of non-rustablematerial.A flour bin, BW-3832, equipped with a sieve to hold10 lbs. of flour may be furnished installed in one 01the upper units.A sugar bin, BW-3834, can also be installed in anupper unit, and this has a capacity for 10 lbs. ofsugar. It is made with an extension, which permitsit lo swing in and out.Carving and moulding board, BW-3836, is completelyconcealed behind the door, a great improvementover having the edge of the board exposed. It is made in a standardsize as follows:-13" wide; 16" long; and 2"deep inside.The rack illustrated directly above is an unusuallyhandy thing for keeping pans and lids in a definiteplace, in keeping with present-day orderlinessin the kitchen.The Ironing Board shown at the sigh. .- the <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong> Unit No. 21-1 and isconcealed in a broom and storage compartment. The framework isattached to the back of the door, and when the board is not in use, thedoor swings open and shut in the usual way.


Grouping a series of <strong>Bilt</strong>well sectional units of various widths into one complete cabinet is very simple.The above diagram illustrates the method. In planning the kitchen it is recommended at the outset toestablish a convenient place for the refrigerator and to measure off from !his point the cabinet spaceavailable, which will determine the width of the units to be incorporated. The plan is developed to bestadvantage when the kitchen equipment follows the same order of sequence as the corresponding stepsin food preparation, starting with the refrigerator and finishing with the range at the end of the linenearest ihe-dining room.All <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong> Nu-Style Kitchen Kabinet units areequippd with a combination top consisting of fabricatedwood and inlaid linoleum surface with colorsto match that which will be used on the cabinets.It should be determined when ordering the cabinetswhether or not a one piece top, the full length ofthe cabinet, is desired and the order should specifythese details. These linoleum tops can be usedwith porcelain enameled iron, monel metal, stainlesssteel or linoleum composition sinks and cabineltops. This can be handled in a very satisfactoryway by ordering the sink top to cover cabinet sinkunit only. Ample room is provided for everythingthat is generally kept in a cabinet.The storage compartment behind the smalldoors just below the ceiling is a convenientspace for storing canned goods.<strong>Design</strong> BW-3882 illustrated below is intendedfor a family of five. Thisillustrates the flexibility of <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong>Custom-Made Kitchen Cabinets inwhich the plan is fitted to specificneeds. The main cabinet is approximately9'4" long and the right wing10'-0" long.Suggestion BW-3890 is an attractivearrangement for a small family inwhich flour, dishes, pans, and tablecloths can be kept. The cabinet andsink complete measures approximately11'-0" wide. The upper section is 1'-2"deep and the lower 1'-10". Both illustrations are the continuation of <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong>" Custom-Made Kitchen Cabinets, and in suggestion BW-3894, thecabinet arrangement is approximately 8'-0" long on theleft wing, and 11'-6" long on the right wing. SuggestionBW-3898 is a very attractive kitchen cabinet with upperglass doors, for the housewife who takes unusual delight inhaving her kitchen and dishes admired by others. Glassdoors are very practical and are in extensive use for modernkitchens. The cabinet lay-out is 10'-0" wide, 7'-4" high; 1'-2"deep above the shelf, and 1'-10" below the shelf.

They are madeto measurement as required for each particularcase. The swinging flour bin, BW-3902 and tilting flour bin, BW-3906, aremodern conveniences in the kitchen. Inthe case of BW-3902 a metal flour containeris placed on the shelf which ishinged at the side to operate as a swingingplatform. Drawer BW-3904, made tothe required dimensions, consists of dovetailedfront, tongued and grooved sides,back, and bottom. These designs includejambs but not the casing.BW-4400 shown in lower left-hand corner is avery attractive cabinet for bathroom linens.The upper comparlment contains a shelf behindthe two doors, while the lower compartment isoccupied by drawers. <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong>Ironing BoardsThese <strong>Bilt</strong>-<strong>Well</strong> Ironing Boards are permanent fixturesrecessed into the wall. They keep theironing board conveniently out of the way whennot in use and present a neat appearance at alltimes. Their usual location is in the kitchen, butthey are frequently installed in the sewing roomor laundry.BW-4418 illustrated at the left is designed primarily forattachment to the wall in existing homes.
