Celebratingwater stewardship<strong>MillerCoors</strong> launched its first company-wide volunteer water stewardshipinitiative by dedicating September as <strong>MillerCoors</strong> Water Stewardship Month.Employees from all brewery and corporate office locations volunteered to improveaccess to clean waterways, rejuvenate stressed watersheds and restore nativeecosystems. In total, 528 employees volunteered 1,658 hours of their time atactivities across the U.S. In Virginia, volunteers planted 60 trees and restoredstreambeds and river banks. In Chicago, employees conducted water qualitytesting and removed invasive plant species along the Chicago River.22

In 2009, we donated a record$1.3 million to the Fund. We alsodonated $60,000 in scholarshipsduring the Historically BlackColleges and Universities FootballClassics.We continue our commitment tohelping Latino students pursuehigher education through apartnership with <strong>MillerCoors</strong>¡Adelante! In 2009, we donated$200,000 in scholarships andsponsored 30 students to attendthe ¡Adelante! Leadership Institutein San Antonio, Texas.<strong>MillerCoors</strong> receivedthe 2009 Corporationof the Year Awardfrom the U.S. HispanicChamber of Commerce.CHICAGO HEADQUARTERSEARNS LEED SILVERcertification<strong>MillerCoors</strong> officially opened itsChicago headquarters in June2009, bringing a commitment toenvironmentally-friendly design.The space features energy efficientlighting with motion sensors, andthe open layout harvests 90 percentdaylight. In total, 96 percent of theconstruction waste was recycled.The building recently earnedLeadership in Energy andEnvironmental Design (LEED)Silver certification from the U.S.Green Building Council, whichencourages global adoption ofsustainable green building anddevelopment practices.23
