Following the submissionsof the Advanced Practice WorkingGroup, the AIR Board has called fornominations for a new panel of the AIR, The AdvancedPractitioners Advisory Panel.The AIR Board has reviewed the Initial Directions Reportof the Review of the Professional Development Year. ThePDY is a year of supervised postgraduate clinical experiencerequired of all graduates of three year degree programsand some graduate entry programs in order to achieve fullprofessional accreditation. An executive summary and draftrecommendations have been circulated for comment.Everything is ready for the Combined Scientific Meetingbeing held at the Brisbane Convention and ExhibitionCentre, from 22-25 October 2009. This will be the firstjoint meeting of the The Royal Australian and New ZealandCollege of Radiologists (RANZCR), (including the Facultyof Radiation Oncology (FRO)), The Australian Instituteof Radiography (AIR) and the Australasian College ofPhysical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM).An interesting and varied program has been assembled.Planning is continuing for the 16th ISRRT WorldCongress being held in Australia in September 2010. Anexciting educational program and technical exhibitionis being planned and the first call for proffered papershas been made. More information can be found at thewebsite www.2010<strong>isrrt</strong>.org regarding the program, abstractsubmission, registration and accommodation.Congratulations to the Malaysian and Singapore societiesfor hosting the recent 17th AACRT and 24th MSRC in KualaLumpur in August. Jo undertookthe role with enthusiasm andachieved a significant within theNew Zealand branch of the society.The NZIMRT continues to be busy with ContinuingProfessional Development and Role Expansion aswell as the continued growth of the Institute. As aresult of the ongoing growth of the NZIMRT, the governanceof the Institute and Branches has been reviewedwith some major changes to the structure to beimplemented to provide greater long term stability. Inconjunction with this a membership survey wasconducted to gauge the effectiveness of the institute,we look forward to these results being available. Asignificant achievement for the NZIMRT is online CPDrecording which will be available to CPD members from 1October, 2009.The Role Development Implementation Group continuesto gather information from the profession on the advancedpractices undertaken by MRTs and RTs particularly in theareas of reporting, IV administration, naso-gastric tubeinsertion.A very successful national conference was held inRotorua in August with a wide range of high qualitypresentations and international guest speakers. At conferencewe welcomed our new President Kathy Colgan.
