Treasurers’ training daysFeedback from parishes suggests thatthere continues to be considerableinterest in support and training bothfor existing office holders and thosenew in post and a number ofseminars have been organised.Issues to be covered will include:Legal and financial overview of aPCC; Principles of PCC accounts;Format of accounts and the AnnualReport. Please note that much of thematerial was also covered on theequivalent courses in 2010. Coursesin 2011 are primarily aimed at newPCC Treasurers, and those who werenot able to attend a course in 2010.One event per Archdeaconry iscurrently being organised, togetherwith one central event. All of thesewill be led by Catherine Evans,Finance Manager. There are resourcesavailable atwww.awarenesssunday.com.The Archbishop of Canterbury DrRowan Williams, who is patronof the Awareness Foundation andwho was in New York at the timeof the attacks said: “AwarenessSunday is acknowledging througheducation, the urgent need todispel ignorance and the urgentneed to help each one of us tobuild a path for peace in ourdiverse, ever-changing world,”The 10th anniversary falls on aSunday and the AwarenessFoundation is urging churches tomark the day with special servicesand prayers, as a day ofremembrance and reconciliation.9
