© An Post <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Company 2012 Interactive Instant <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>VERSION 1 FEBRUARY 2012The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong><strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Game</strong> <strong>FG</strong> <strong>25</strong> <strong>“Pots</strong> O’Gold”The following sets <strong>for</strong>th the rules <strong>for</strong> a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong> (hereinafter known as <strong>“Pots</strong>O’Gold”) which will be operated by An Post <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Company (“the Company”) as part of The<strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong>.The <strong>Game</strong> will commence on a date to be announced, and will continue until the Company publiclyannounces a termination date.These rules have been approved by the Minister <strong>for</strong> Public Expenditure and in accordance withSection 28 of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Act 1986.GENERAL1. These rules are governed by The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Act 1986, the General <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> The <strong>National</strong><strong>Lottery</strong>, NLC’s Interactive Terms and Conditions and the NLC Interactive Privacy Statement.Copies of the General <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong>, NLC’s Interactive Terms and Conditions,the NLC Interactive Privacy Statement and these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> are available by writing to An Post<strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Company, Abbey Street Lower, Dublin 1. The NLC Interactive Terms andConditions and the NLC Interactive Privacy Statement can also be accessed via the <strong>National</strong><strong>Lottery</strong> website with the following URL: www.lottery.ie.2. We recommend that prospective players read and understand the NLC’s Interactive Terms andConditions and the relevant <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> be<strong>for</strong>e playing any <strong>Game</strong>s. The Interactive Terms andConditions and NLC’s Interactive Privacy Statement are hereby incorporated into and <strong>for</strong>m partof these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>.3. The Company reserves the right to vary these rules subject to the consent of the Minister <strong>for</strong>Public Expenditure and Re<strong>for</strong>m.4. The Company reserves the right to vary the <strong>for</strong>mat of the <strong>Game</strong>, and the value and number ofPrizes subject to the approval of the Minister <strong>for</strong> Public Expenditure and Re<strong>for</strong>m.6. Where the context so requires, in these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>, the neuter gender shall include thefeminine or masculine gender and vice versa, the feminine gender shall include the masculinegender and vice-versa and the singular shall include the plural and vice-versa.DEFINITIONSThe following words and terms will have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicatesotherwise:1. Act means The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Act 1986.2. Company or We or Us or NLC means An Post <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Company.<strong>Game</strong> <strong>FG</strong> <strong>25</strong> <strong>“Pots</strong> O’Gold” Page 3 of 7<strong>Version</strong> 1 Feb-12

Customer Support means the Company's customer services helpline, contact details of whichare set out in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the Website.4. <strong>Game</strong> means this <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong> which can be played by Players via theWebsite, in which the determination of whether or not a Player has won a Prize (and the level ofany such Prize) is predetermined by the Interactive System at the point of purchase of the Play.5. <strong>Game</strong> Details Screen means the screen on the Website setting out in<strong>for</strong>mation relating to a<strong>Game</strong>.6. <strong>Game</strong> Play Window means the screen on the Website via which a Player plays a <strong>Game</strong>.7. <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> mean any rules or conditions (including, without limit, the relevant name <strong>for</strong> a<strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong>, how a Prize is won, Prize Structure and Play Method) issuedby the Company in addition to the NLC Interactive Terms and Conditions (hereby incorporated byreference) which apply only to a particular <strong>Game</strong>.8. High Tier Prize means a prize exceeding €499, paid by cheque and which must be redeemed atNLC headquarters or a prize claim centre (selected An Post Company Offices).9. Interactive System means the system (accessible via the Website) established and operated bythe NLC <strong>for</strong> the purpose of registering Players, administering Player Accounts, facilitating Plays,holding <strong>Game</strong>s related in<strong>for</strong>mation and paying Prizes.10. Interactive Terms and Conditions means the terms, conditions and rules which regulate themanner in which a Player may open, maintain and close a Player Account.11. Low Tier Prize means a Prize within the range of €1 - €99, which will be paid directly to aPlayer’s Wallet.12. Mid Tier Prize means a Prize up to a maximum of €499, but greater than the upper limit of theLow Tier Prize which may be determined by NLC from time to time. Mid Tier Prizes will be paidby cheque, stamped “Account Payee Only”, and posted to the address specified in Your PlayerAccount;13. Password means the alphanumeric identifier used by a Player to identify him/herself whenaccessing and using certain areas of the Interactive System.14. Play means, in relation to any <strong>Game</strong>, any interaction by a Player with that <strong>Game</strong>, which mayyield a Prize, which must be purchased in advance of playing a <strong>Game</strong> and as described in the‘<strong>Game</strong> Entry Mechanism’ of these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>.15. Player or You or Your means a person who plays <strong>Game</strong>s via the Website and, <strong>for</strong> theavoidance of doubt, has satisfied the various Player criteria as set out in the Interactive Termsand Conditions.16. Player Account means a Player's on-line account held on the Interactive System which containsa Player’s personal in<strong>for</strong>mation and all other details necessary to play a <strong>Game</strong>.17. Player History Screen means the screen displaying a Player's financial transaction historyaccessed via the “Financial Transactions” link in the "View My History" section of the Websiteand the Player’s interactive <strong>Game</strong> history accessed through the “<strong>Game</strong> Play” link in the “View MyHistory” section of the Website.18. Play Method means the method of interactive participation in a <strong>Game</strong> via the Website by aPlayer as specified under ‘<strong>Game</strong> Entry Mechanism’ of these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>.19. Play Number means the number accessible on the relevant page of the Website which is uniqueto and which identifies a particular Play and which is recorded on the Interactive System.20. Prize means a prize won by a Player from a Play in a <strong>Game</strong> and which has been validated onthe Interactive System and is in accordance with these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> in addition to the NLCInteractive Terms and Conditions (which are hereby incorporated by reference).21. Prize Structure means the number, value and odds of winning Prizes <strong>for</strong> a <strong>Game</strong> and the PrizeTiers within a <strong>Game</strong> as determined by the Company and as specified in the <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>;22. Qualified Person means a person who is 18 years of age or older, and who is otherwise eligibleto play the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong>s.24. Try <strong>for</strong> Free <strong>Game</strong> means a <strong>Game</strong> which is available to registered Players free of charge and<strong>for</strong> which there are notional prizes only.<strong>25</strong>. Unutilised Funds means any funds credited to a Player's Account (including Prizes) that are notused by the relevant Player to play <strong>Game</strong>s.26. User ID means the 6-30 character identifier used by a Player to identify himself when accessingand using certain areas of the Interactive System.27. Valid <strong>Game</strong> Play means participation by the Player (via the Website) in this <strong>Game</strong> inaccordance with these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>.28. Valid <strong>Game</strong> Play Owner means the person who is recognised by the Company as the owner ofthe Valid <strong>Game</strong> Play. The Company will recognise the person who has completed the on-lineregistration process through the Website and who enters the <strong>Game</strong> in accordance with the <strong>Game</strong><strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> this <strong>Game</strong> as the Valid <strong>Game</strong> Play Owner.29. Wallet means an on-line account created by the Player and credited with funds from adebit/credit card in order to play <strong>Game</strong>s, which may hold Prize money and is accessible via theWebsite.30. Website means the NLC interactive <strong>Game</strong> website, which is accessible through URLwww.lottery.ie.GOVERNING LAW AND RULESIn playing <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong>s the Player agrees to abide by the Laws of Ireland, theAct, the General <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong>, NLC’s Interactive Terms and Conditions, the NLCInteractive Privacy Statement and these <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>.COST OF PLAYThe price of a <strong>“Pots</strong> O’Gold” play will be €1.PURCHASE AND PRIZE RESTRICTIONS1. No <strong>Game</strong> shall be played by, and no Prize shall be paid to, any officer or employee of An Post<strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> Company or any contractor or sub-contractor involved in the development,support and/or maintenance of the Interactive System or Website, or any person prohibited bythe Act from purchasing, owning, or claiming a Prize or any other person prohibited by theInteractive Terms and Conditions from purchasing, owning, or claiming a Prize.2. Persons under 18 years of age are prohibited from entering the <strong>Game</strong>.3. The Company will not be responsible <strong>for</strong> lost or stolen devices used to play <strong>Game</strong>s.4. The Company will not be responsible <strong>for</strong> Plays made in error.PROSECUTIONAny person who purchases, owns, or claims a Prize and is not entitled to do so, is liable to criminalprosecution.GAME ENTRY MECHANISM1. The Interactive System must be available <strong>for</strong> play.2. A registered Player may play a “Try <strong>for</strong> Free” game <strong>for</strong> notional prizes by selecting the “Try <strong>for</strong>Free” link in the <strong>Game</strong> Play Window.3. In order to play a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Lottery</strong> interactive <strong>Game</strong>, a Player must first register on-line from a linkon www.lottery.ie in accordance with the NLC Interactive Terms and Conditions.4. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to Play the <strong>Game</strong> and Prizes will not be paid topersons under 18 years.6. The Player is required to log in to the Interactive System by entering a User ID and Password(created during the Player’s original on-line registration process) to gain access to this <strong>Game</strong>.7. When the Player has logged in to the Interactive System a choice of <strong>Game</strong>s will appear. ThePlayer chooses the <strong>“Pots</strong> O’Gold” <strong>Game</strong> by clicking on the “Play Now!” link on the <strong>Game</strong> PlayWindow and/or the Player can view more in<strong>for</strong>mation about the <strong>Game</strong> by clicking on the “MoreInfo” link <strong>for</strong> that particular <strong>Game</strong>.8. When the Player opens the <strong>Game</strong> the Interactive System checks to ensure that the Player hassufficient credit in his Wallet to complete the transaction.9. The Player is then given the price of playing a <strong>Game</strong>, at which point the Player is invited to Play.10. The <strong>Game</strong> then connects to the Interactive System which randomly selects a Play from one ofthe Prize Tiers <strong>for</strong> this <strong>Game</strong>. The result <strong>for</strong> a Play is predetermined by the Interactive System.Effectively the Player’s interaction with the <strong>Game</strong> does not impact on the result.11. The opening screen shows instructions on how to play the <strong>Game</strong> and the Player must press the‘Play’ button to commence Play.12. The Player may use the computer’s mouse to play the game.13. The following options are available to the Player at various stages during the <strong>Game</strong>: Play: Starts the <strong>Game</strong> <strong>Game</strong> Help: Displays the <strong>Game</strong> instructions Sound On/Off: Toggles the sound on/off Exit <strong>Game</strong>: Exits the <strong>Game</strong> and returns the Player to an in<strong>for</strong>mational page Play Again: Exits the <strong>Game</strong> and returns the Player to an in<strong>for</strong>mational page, where thePlayer has the option to Play again.14. Initially, the Player is presented with a screen with instructions on how to play Pots O’Gold. Whenthe Player clicks on the ‘Play’ button, the game instructions disappear and an interactive graphicis presented to the Player on the <strong>Game</strong> Play Window which will display a grid of eight (8) pots(the Grid”).15. Various cash amounts ranging between €1 and €5,000 inclusive are concealed beneath the lid ofthe pots.16. To commence Play the Player should position his cursor over any of the eight (8) pots and clickto lift the lid and reveal a cash amount.17. The aim of the game is to match three identical cash amounts to win the cash amount revealed.18. The Player may select another pot in any order by clicking on the selected pot to reveal a cashamount. The Player continues this procedure until all eight (8) cash amounts have beenrevealed.19. If the Player matches three identical cash amounts he wins the cash amount revealed.20. When the Player has revealed all eight cash amounts a message will be displayed in the <strong>Game</strong>Play Window in<strong>for</strong>ming the Player of the amount he has won, if any.21. Once the <strong>Game</strong> ends an “Exit <strong>Game</strong>” button, a “Play Again” button and any amount won by thePlayer will be displayed.DETERMINATION OF PRIZES1. A Player who does not match three identical cash amounts is not entitled to a prize (Prize Tier 1)2. A Player who matches three identical €1 symbols is entitled to a prize of €1 (Prize Tier 2)3. A Player who matches three identical €4 symbols is entitled to a prize of €4 (Prize Tier 4)5. A Player who matches three identical €8 symbols is entitled to a prize of €8 (Prize Tier 5)6. A Player who matches three identical €<strong>25</strong> symbols is entitled to a prize of €<strong>25</strong> (Prize Tier 6)7. A Player who matches three identical €50 symbols is entitled to a prize of €50 (Prize Tier 7)8. A Player who matches three identical €100 symbols is entitled to a prize of €100 (Prize Tier 8)9. A Player who matches three identical €500 symbols is entitled to a prize of €500 (Prize Tier 9)10. A Player who matches three identical €5,000 symbols is entitled to a prize of €5,000 (Prize Tier10)PAYMENT OF PRIZES1. Low Tier Prizes will be paid directly into a Player’s Wallet.2. Mid Tier Prizes will be paid by cheque, stamped “Account Payee Only”, and posted to theaddress specified in Your Player Account.3. High Tier Prizes will be paid by cheque, stamped “Account Payee Only”, and must be redeemedat NLC headquarters or a prize claim centre (selected An Post Company Offices) following avalidation procedure. When a High Tier Prize claim is made at a prize claim centre (selected AnPost Company Offices) the Prize will be paid by cheque, stamped “Account Payee Only”, whichwill be posted to the address specified in a Player’s Account subject to completion of asatisfactory validation process, including but not limited to verification of a Player’s identity.4. The Company reserves the right to alter the method of payment of any Prize within this <strong>Game</strong>,subject to the approval of the Minister <strong>for</strong> Public Expenditure and Re<strong>for</strong>m.PRIZES1. The total number of Prizes in the <strong>Game</strong> as designed shall be no less than 211,526.2. The odds of winning a Prize are 1:4.73 on average.3.
