II F. Previous RecommendationsThe Recommendations listed in the 2003 Program Review for IndustrialMaintenance/Mining Maintenance are as follows:RECOMMENDATIONSDesign survey forms geared towardstudents’ abilities in the areas of (1) criticalthinking and (2) retrieving and interpretinginformation.Add one additional hydraulic trainingbench to lab.Acquire storage space for equipment andmaterials.Repaint labs and carpet classrooms.ACTIONSGlenn Dalton created a rubric to measurestudent skills. Beyond this rubric, it isdetermined that no other survey form isnecessary because the Goals andObjectives table integrated in eachIndustrial Maintenance course syllabusspecifically addresses how critical thinking, and retrieving and interpreting informationfits into and is taught and measured ineach of our courses. The currentconsensus is that no other measures arerequired. Two additional hydraulics benches as wellas one pneumatics bench with elecropneumaticoption were purchased. Thiswas made possible from non-budgetfunding.A new metal building was built behind theIndustrial Maintenance lab with a waste oilburner installed. This allowed us to havesome enclosed storage for the equipmentbeing changed out every five weeks. Wealso move equipment into the lab space in1511. This was made available by theaddition of the New Diesel lab and havingthe auto’s program move down one lab.Additional outside storage was addedoutside the Industrial Maintenance labs in2005. Painting: Room 1511 was painted inSummer 2009. Room 1508 is scheduledfor painting in Summer 2010. Room1510 and the 1509 (offices) still needpainting. Carpeting: No carpeting has beeninstalled because it is agreed that hardfloor surface with throw carpets would bemore suitable.Industrial Maintenance/Mining Maintenance Program Review 10
