Glenair Composite Connector and AccessoryProduction CapabilitiesIntroductionUltem ® (PEI) is an amorphous thermoplasticavailable in extruded bars for machining andpellets for injection molding. It combines highperformance with good processing characteristicsand offers high heat resistance, high strengthGlenair stocks an abundant supply of the compositematerials used in the fabrication of our parts.Ryton ® (PPS) is a high temperature, injectionmolded material. It has good mechanicalproperties and excellent chemical resistanceat elevated temperatures. Different grades areavailable including glass filled and glass/mineralfilled versions. Ryton R4-XT is a 40 percent glassfilled version engineered for improved knit-weldline characteristics. As a semi-crystalline material,Ryton exhibits excellent resistance to prolongedexposure to high temperatures, up to 500° F (260°C). Ryton also provides outstanding resistanceto a broad spectrum of aggressive chemicalsand has very stable dielectric and insulatingproperties. Ryton meets ASTME595 outgassingrequirements and UL94 flammability tests.modulus and broad chemical resistance. Ultem2300 is a 30% glass filled thermoplastic whichdisplays excellent property retention and resistanceto environmental stress. It can be further reinforcedwith conductive fibers, or plated, for EMI resistance.Ultem performs in operating environments up to378° F (192° C) long term and 410° F (210° C )short term. Ultem meets ASTME595 outgassing,14 CFR Part 25 flammability, and zero halogenoutgassing requirements.Glenair’s G-FLEX polymer (polyetherimidesiloxane)is a high-temperature material usedprimarily to produce annular convoluted tubing. The material is offered in a broad range ofoperating temperatures, has exceptional flexibilityand good crush resistance. In certain applications,G-FLEX is a suitable alternative to costlierhalogen-free composite polymers such as PEEK(polyetheretherketone).PEEK is a semi-crystallinethermoplastic that operates at extremely hightemperatures—500°F (260° C) long-term and600°F (315° C) short term. An extrudablematerial, PEEK offers one of the lightest strengthto weight ratios available in a composite.© 2009 Glenair, Inc.CAGE Code 06324Printed in U.S.A.GLENAIR, INC. • 1211 AIR WAY • GLENDALE, CA 91201-2497 • 818-247-6000 • FAX 818-500-9912www.glenair.comIntro-17E-Mail: sales@glenair.com
