TENDERS FOR THE CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO CONDUCT AN ASSESSMENT STUDY AT THE BICHE HIGH<br />

SCHOOL FOR THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION<br />

PURSUANT to its goal to improve the quality of education to the citizens of <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>and</strong> Tobago, the government entered into a contract<br />

with the National Maintenance Training <strong>and</strong> Security Company Limited (MTS) for Project/Construction Management Services during<br />

the pre-design, construction <strong>and</strong> post construction stages for the construction of ten (10) secondary schools for the Secondary Education<br />

Modernization Programme (SEMP).<br />

One (1) of the schools constructed was the Biche High School but this school was not occupied. A Commission of Enquiry was<br />

conducted into the construction of this school <strong>and</strong> Cabinet agreed that certain measures be undertaken if the Biche High School is to<br />

be occupied. Among the measures required are:<br />

(i) All the reports be studied in their entirety, especially those reports which recommended closure of the school for health<br />

<strong>and</strong> environmental reasons;<br />

(ii) There be continuous air monitoring under the supervision <strong>and</strong> direction of the Environmental Management Authority<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO);<br />

(iii) Investigation of the structural integrity of the present structures.<br />

Consequent to the above, interested consultant firms/teams are invited to submit proposals for conducting an assessment study at<br />

the Biche High School.<br />
