Full information and publicationscan be found on the EASAC website at www.easac.euFurther information on all of these activities can be foundon www.acadeuro.orgRelationships withother bodiesThe <strong>Academia</strong> <strong>Europaea</strong> maintains close relationshipswith other bodies concerned with European science andscholarship, including the European Commission and itsscientific advisory bodies (including EFSA; EURAB), theEuropean Science Foundation, UNESCO, the Council ofEurope, the network of European Academies (ALLEA), theInternational Council for Science (ICSU), Euroscience, theEuropean Research Council and the COST organisation.Contacts and exchanges of information and literatureare also maintained with national academies and otherinternational academies such as the Third World Academy.Our individual members serve on many internationaland national committees, boards and panels, such as forexample – the expert panels of the European ResearchCouncil; heads of national funding agencies and as officersof a number of National Academies of Science(s).FinanceAs an independent charitable and ‘not-for-profit’ body,the <strong>Academia</strong> <strong>Europaea</strong> exists through the generousfinancial support from a wide range of sources, includingfrom a number of government ministries and the researchfunding councils of several European countries, privatefoundations, charities, banks and industries. Members arealso asked to pay a subscription, although to recognise thatboth national traditions and the great differentials acrossEuropean country economies may present difficulties,generous exemptions are provided for in individual cases.All of our conferences and activities are externally supportedby funds which are negotiated by the <strong>Academia</strong> andoften passed directly from sponsors to the local organisers.This ensures an active and relevant involvement at the localand regional levels. We do not trade, sell, or carry out anyprofit making activities. We have no shareholders.We submit our annual report and accounts to the UKauthorities: to the Charity Commission of England andWales and to UK Companies House.
