Durham before continuing to our hotel in Bamburgh.
Day 2 Today we cross the causeway to Holy Island and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle –
visible in the distance from Bamburgh. We return to our hotel and have free time, maybe visit
the majestic castle on the beach or the Grace Darling Museum. Please note that; The crossing
of the causeway to Holy Island is governed by tide times and it may be necessary to amend
this excursion.
Day 3 Our excursion today begins with a visit to the villages of Ford and Etal, a vast rural
estate with a Visitors Centre, steam railway, castles, paintings, café, tea rooms, craft workshops
and the Black Bull – Northumberland’s only thatched roof pub.Whilst here we include a visit
to Lady Waterford Hall; the hall was Ford School until 1957, a ride on the Heatherslaw Steam
Light Railway and a visit to the Heatherslaw Cornmill, England’s most northerly working
water mill. From here we continue to the Scottish Borders region at Coldstream and continue
the home of Floors Castle, the largest inhabited castle in Scotland.
Northumberland Museum and Country Park, featuring Coal Town and much more. Later we
