5.4 Other OccupationsOther occupations that are remunerated or that might make itdifficult for the employee to perform the work owed to the companymust be cleared beforehand with the competent authority atSCHOTT and require a prior written approval.Employees may not pursue another occupation that could create acompetitive situation for SCHOTT. Exceptions are publications, lecturesand other comparable occasional activities. However, no confidentialinformation <strong>of</strong> SCHOTT or its business partners may be usedor published in the process.SCHOTT welcomes any honorary involvement <strong>of</strong> its employees, butcare must be taken that this commitment is compatible with the employee’sobligations toward SCHOTT under the employment contractand that it does not take too much <strong>of</strong> the employee’s time.6. Safety, Health and EnvironmentWith the “Integrated Management System for Safety, Health and EnvironmentalProtection (German acronym: IMSU)” – already implementedsince October 1995 – SCHOTT ensures compliance with thelaws and regulations in these areas and thereby sets high standardswith regard to the sustainability <strong>of</strong> its actions.6.1 Safety and HealthThe safety and health <strong>of</strong> its employees at the workplace has thehighest priority for SCHOTT. This includes the maintenance and constantimprovement <strong>of</strong> standards in the areas <strong>of</strong> work and workplacesafety as well as health protection.The job environment must meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> a healthorientedorganization. All employees must pay constant attention towork safety. Each individual bears a joint responsibility to supportSCHOTT in its efforts to create a safe working environment.13
