When segmentsenter the pressure port area,volume is reduced, forcing fluidthrough the pressure port.Maximum output occurs when thepressure ring is at its’ most eccentricposition, as shown in the illustrationbelow. When system requirementsare less than maximum pumpoutput, system pressure forces thepressure ring up against the spring,reducing eccentricity, which reducesflow.When system volume demand fallsto zero, system pressure drives thering to a concentric position.
