The Curriculum & Academic Support - Sixth FormWe prepare pupils for entry totop universities, colleges andprofessions. The range ofdestinations reflects thediversity of our pupil bodyand recognition of theimportance of tailoringcourses to the individual.Nearly all pupils stay on into the Sixth Formwhere the normal entry requirement is fivepasses at grade C or above at GCSE level. It is a special feature of Strathallan’s SixthForm that there is the flexibility to chooseeither A levels or Scottish Highers. The choiceis determined by the needs of the individualpupil. There is a wide range of subjects:Art, Biology, Business Management, BusinessStudies, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation,Computing, Design & Technology, Economics,English, French, Geography, German,History, Latin, Mathematics, Music, RMPS,Physical Education, Physics and Spanish. The opportunity to study more than threesubjects at AS level in the Lower Sixth ensuresthat a degree of flexibility can be maintained, and the study of A2 leads to specialistknowledge suitable for future university study.Highers provide a slightly broader base, and are an appropriate university entrancequalification in Scotland and further afield. The formal academic curriculum issupplemented by a programme of talks, visitsand exchanges. We have well established linkswith continental schools, and visits to theatres, galleries, courses and conferences in the UKand abroad often take place. Extra-curricularactivities and societies complement the formalacademic courses and extend pupils’ interestin learning and discussion, through activitybeyond the classroom.www.strathallan.co.uk15
