Barbara P. Greene Endowed <strong>Scholarship</strong> in Political ScienceEstablished in 2004 by Sarah <strong>and</strong> Edward Cohen (daughter <strong>and</strong> son-in-law) <strong>and</strong> friends of Barbara Greene. Barbara wasa professor <strong>and</strong> chair of the political science department prior to her death in 2001. Income from this endowment willsupport a scholarship for students enrolled in the political science department who have interest in state <strong>and</strong> local government.Recipient must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to a graduate student,followed by a senior or junior.Robin L. Racette Griffin Endowed <strong>Scholarship</strong> FundEstablished in 2007 by Robin L. Racette Griffin (Class of 1976). Income from the endowment will support a renewablescholarship for a full time undergraduate enrolled in the College of Communication <strong>and</strong> Fine Arts. Eligible c<strong>and</strong>idates mustbe a sophomore or higher <strong>and</strong> maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 <strong>and</strong> demonstrate financial need.Edgar L. <strong>and</strong> Miriam Grim <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1965 by family, friends <strong>and</strong> associates in honor of loyal alumnus, recognized humanitarian, <strong>and</strong> MichiganDeputy Superintendent of Public Instruction, Edgar L. Grim, for junior or senior students pursuing a teaching curriculum.Les Gruber <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1985 by Jacoba Gruber, family <strong>and</strong> friends in memory of Les Gruber, former professor in the Departmentof Communication Disorders, for students majoring in communication disorders.Hales <strong>and</strong> Nolan Family <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1990 by Glenn R. Hales <strong>and</strong> H. Marlene Hales, (Class of 1978) <strong>and</strong> renamed in 1992 to commemorate Marlene’sparents, Lois <strong>and</strong> Delbert Nolan, Sr., for juniors or seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA.Aaron C. Hall <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1984 by family <strong>and</strong> friends in memory of Aaron C. Hall (Class of 1958), former director of financial aid <strong>and</strong>admissions counselor between 1965 <strong>and</strong> 1967, for Holt High School graduates as selected by Holt High School personnel.Arnold Hammel KME Endowed AwardEstablished in 2008 by friends <strong>and</strong> colleagues in honor of Arnold Hammel (Class of 1962), mathematics professor emeritus.Income from the endowment will support an award for a full-time student majoring in mathematics <strong>and</strong> also an activemember of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honor organization.Irvin W. <strong>and</strong> Velma C. Hartman <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 2005 by Irvin W. <strong>and</strong> Velma C. Hartman, friends of Central Michigan University <strong>and</strong> long-time members ofthe Mount Pleasant community. Income from the endowment will support a renewable scholarship for an undergraduatestudent who is applying to the teacher education program <strong>and</strong> has a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given tostudents from Isabella County, Michigan <strong>and</strong> then to any qualified student.Robert D. Hays Award for Excellence in JazzEstablished in 1996 for a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student considered to be the most improved jazz musician.The recipient will be selected by the School of Music <strong>and</strong> will presented with this prize at the final jazz concert ofthe school year.Michael Herceg <strong>and</strong> Joan A. Kelley <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 2006 by Michael Herceg <strong>and</strong> Joan A. Kelley (Class of 1968). Income from the endowment will support arenewable scholarship for an incoming freshman who plans to major in teacher education, has a minimum 3.0 GPA <strong>and</strong> isa resident of the State of Michigan. Financial need may be considered.Dr. W.E. Hersee <strong>and</strong> Idonea Lewis Hersee Endowed <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 2005 by S<strong>and</strong>ra <strong>and</strong> Dennis Olson in honor of S<strong>and</strong>ra’s parents Dr. W.E. Hersee (Class of 1931) <strong>and</strong> IdoneaLewis Hersee (1931). Income from the endowment will support a renewable scholarship for a junior with a major in biologyon the premedicine program <strong>and</strong> a minimum 3.5 GPA.Ruth Heyman Honors <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 2007 by the Ruth Heyman Foundation. Income from this endowment will support a renewable scholarshipfor a student(s) in the Honors Program demonstrating high financial need. Recipient will have a minimum GPA of 3.5 <strong>and</strong>a minimum ACT score of 25 <strong>and</strong> must retain Honors Program membership <strong>and</strong> an average 3.25 GPA in order to maintain thescholarship. <strong>Scholarship</strong> will be set at $2,500 annually for up to four years. The scholarship may be received in additionto a Board of Trustee merit award, but may not be received in addition to a Centralis Scholar, Centralis Gold or LeadershipAdvancement Award. Students are required to live in Larzelere Hall (Honors Residential Community) their first year <strong>and</strong>must remain on campus for their second year, but may live in another residence hall if desired. Preference will be givento student(s) that are not getting need based aid because they do not qualify for the Pell threshold.
