The Daniel L. Bookey Endowed AwardEstablished in 2008 by friends <strong>and</strong> colleagues in honor of Daniel L. Bookey, emeritus CMU athletics equipment manager.Income from the endowment will support an award for a student equipment manager in their sophomore year or higherwho best epitomizes the character traits of Dan Bookey: selflessness, dedication, integrity, <strong>and</strong> love of the game. Studentmust maintain 2.5 or higher GPA.Duane Mark Bouliew History AwardEstablished in 1990 by family <strong>and</strong> friends in memory of Duane Mark Bouliew, CMU senior killed at age 21 in an automobileaccident December 16, 1989, for a junior or senior who has earned at least 12 credit hours in history with a minimum 3.25GPA; has a 3.0 or higher overall GPA; <strong>and</strong> preferably is a member of CMU’s History Club <strong>and</strong> Phi Alpha Theta, or active inother campus or community organizations.Norvall C. <strong>and</strong> Evelyn Gagnon Bovee <strong>Scholarship</strong>Converted in 1995 from a loan fund established in 1971 to commemorate Norvall C. Bovee’s 30 years of dedication,service, loyalty <strong>and</strong> positive effect on CMU as assistant <strong>and</strong> director of the Keeler Union, business manager, controller<strong>and</strong> vice president of business <strong>and</strong> finance between 1940 <strong>and</strong> December 11, 1970. Annual spendable investment incomewill be awarded to biology majors studying at the CMU Biological Station at Beaver Isl<strong>and</strong>, MI. Application may be madethrough the Department of the Biology.Bill Boyden Leadership AwardEstablished in honor <strong>and</strong> memory of W.B. (“Bill”) Boyden by family members <strong>and</strong> friends. Bill Boyden well reflected duringhis lifetime a unique blend of leadership, community concern <strong>and</strong> involvement, athletic ability <strong>and</strong> diverse other talents.The purpose of the award is to foster <strong>and</strong> recognize similar interests <strong>and</strong> abilities in deserving students.Brannan Family <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 2010 by family <strong>and</strong> friends in memory of Samuel J. Brannan (Class of 1959, 1962), mathematics professorat Central Michigan University for 38 years. Income from the endowment will support a renewable award for a full-timejunior or senior enrolled in the teacher education program in the College of Education <strong>and</strong> Human Services with a minimum3.0 GPA.William Brehm, Sr. <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1988 by William Brehm for a junior or senior pursuing a business administration degree with a major inhospitality services administration.Brewer-Brown-Marsh Endowed AwardEstablished in 2004 to honor Patricia Brewer, Lewis Brown <strong>and</strong> Trena Marsh. Income from the endowment will be used tosupport a renewable scholarship for a student(s) who graduated from a high school in Michigan <strong>and</strong> who can demonstratefinancial need <strong>and</strong> commitment to the advancement of African-Americans in the professions.Laurel Wood Brice Endowed AwardEstablished in 2007 by Pat Loers in memory of her mother, Laurel Wood Brice. Income from this endowment will supporta scholarship for a full-time junior or senior enrolled in Early Childhood Development Program in the elementary educationprogram with a GPA of at least 3.0. Preference will be given to students from Mecosta or Isabella County.Reverend Lloyd C. <strong>and</strong> Ica L. Bronson <strong>Memorial</strong> AwardEstablished in 2002 by Larry Bronson, CMU emeritus faculty member, to honor his parents, the Reverend Lloyd C. <strong>and</strong>Ica L. Bronson. Proceeds from the endowment will be used to establish a renewable scholarship for a senior student enrolledin the College of Humanities <strong>and</strong> Social <strong>and</strong> Behavioral Sciences, majoring in English with a GPA of 3.5 or above.Recipient will provide documented work with minority groups. Women, persons of color, <strong>and</strong> persons with disabilities areencouraged to apply.Chester J. Brown <strong>Scholarship</strong>Established in 1984 by family, friends, <strong>and</strong> trust of Chester James Brown (Class of 1934), lifelong resident of IsabellaCounty, for a student within the Colleges of Communication & Fine Arts or Science & Technology.Edward C. Brown AwardEstablished in 1991 by CMU faculty, staff, students <strong>and</strong> friends in memory of Edward C. Brown, director of CMU HealthServices from 1978 to 1990, in recognition of the outst<strong>and</strong>ing leadership he provided to health services, the Division ofStudent Affairs <strong>and</strong> the university in general for sophomore, junior or senior students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0or higher in health education.Kathryn L. Brown AwardEstablished in 1998 by friends <strong>and</strong> family in memory of Kathryn (Kate) L. Brown, a junior in the Hospitality ServicesAdministration program who died while doing her internship. Recipient will be a full-time student majoring in hospitalityservices administration with at least one full semester remaining before graduation with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
