By Way of Introduction, our newDeputy Principal, Mr TaylorFamily Status: married to the beautiful Joy and havethree children—one girl at university and two boys hereat Riverside.Recent Career: for the past three years AssistantPrincipal at Marrara Christian College in Darwin. Beforethat I worked in the traineeship and apprenticeshipindustry. Before that I pioneered Richmond ChristianCollege in Ballina (NSW).Why Riverside?: Good question as Term 4, 2009 wasby far the best of my career... so why move from that?Riverside is an exciting place to be at the moment.Resources, care of staff and student possibilities are allexceptional here. As a school we are ‘punching wellabove our weight division’. Tony’s leadership and visionfor us all is a great place to be. Riverside is a place whereI can grow and contribute in a way that istransformational.What happened in last Term that was so goodfor you?:Having worked incredibly ha rd with my staff overtwo‐and‐a‐half years to develop a comprehensiveCurriculum Map for the school, it was finally completed. Itwas a huge goal to kick and one that surprisinglyout‐stripped most schools in the Territory. I finished myMasters in Education in record time. I had opportunity tovisit a remote indigenous community on the Gulf ofCarpenta ria. I was awarded the Lea dership RecognitionAward at the Independent Schools Teaching ExcellenceAwards “in recognition of the outstanding contribution toeducation in the Northern Territory”. But most of all wehad as a staff created an on‐going conversation aboutwhat it means to deliver an authentic Christian education.Do you have a Bible verse to share?Jeremiah 9:23‐24.
