September 1, 2007 and $49.88 per day effective August 31,<br />
2008 for continuing education summer school credit courses<br />
and the foregoing amounts per day shall be pro-rated for<br />
continuing education night school credit courses.<br />
6) Teachers employed by the Board to mark lessons for<br />
correspondence courses administered by the Continuing<br />
Education Department shall be paid seven dollars ($7.00)<br />
per lesson.<br />
7) Continuing Education teachers shall be paid on a bi-weekly<br />
basis. The schedule for pays will be in accordance with the<br />
payment schedule for full-time teachers.<br />
3:08 PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT<br />
The Board shall reimburse teachers as follows: Seventy five<br />
percent (75%) of the tuition fees if travelling outside <strong>Durham</strong><br />
Region or the county of residence, to take recognized Ministry of<br />
Education and Undergraduate University courses, and/or fifty<br />
percent (50%) of the tuition fees if travelling within <strong>Durham</strong><br />
Region or county of residence to take recognized Ministry of<br />
Education and Undergraduate University courses, payable<br />
onthe successful completion of such courses, provided the<br />
teacher has been with the Board for one (1) school year (as<br />
defined in Ontario Regulation 822/82 – School Year and School<br />
Holidays) and will agree to remain with the Board for one year<br />
following the completion of such courses.<br />
No teacher shall be reimbursed for more than two (2) courses, or<br />
four (4) half credit courses, to a maximum of $195 in any school<br />
year.<br />
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Board shall pay $250 for any<br />
Religious Education Part I – III course, or any other course<br />
mandated by the Board.<br />

Collective Agreement 2004-2008<br />
3:09 TRAVEL<br />
1) Any employee covered by this Collective Agreement,<br />
authorized by the Director or designate to travel as part of<br />
the job, shall be paid a travelling allowance per kilometre as<br />
approved from time to time by the Board.<br />
2) For teachers employed as Consultants, Family of Schools<br />
Co-ordinators, Itinerant Teachers and Resource Teachers,<br />
the Board will pay a basic monthly travel allowance of ninety<br />
dollars ($90) plus a travelling allowance (per kilometre) as<br />
approved from time to time by the Board. This kilometre<br />
allowance is for all kilometres in excess of 161 kilometres<br />
driven in any one month.<br />
NOTE: In the event of a new Board Policy resulting in an<br />
increase, the new Board Policy shall become an addendum<br />
to this Collective Agreement.<br />
3:10 NEW POSITIONS<br />
1) Although it is understood that the Board has the sole right to<br />
create or designate a new position to be filled by a teacher<br />
who comes within the scope of this Collective Agreement, it<br />
is agreed that salary and additional allowances for such a<br />
position must be arrived at after negotiation with the<br />
teachers’ authorized representatives.<br />
2) All vacancies for Consultant, Family of Schools Co-ordinator,<br />
District Resource Teacher, Curriculum Chair, Program<br />
Leader – Continuing and Alternative Education and any<br />
other new position of responsibility shall be posted in all<br />
schools and may be simultaneously advertised provincially.<br />
For information purposes, all vacancies for principal and vice<br />
principal shall be posted in all schools.<br />
3) Employment experience with the Board shall be recognized<br />
as one of the criteria in deciding on the successful<br />
candidate(s) for new positions.
