IEC Enclosure Protection IndexesLike NEMA, IEC has designations indicating the protection provided by amotor’s enclosure. However, where NEMA designations are in words, suchas Open Drip Proof or Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled, IEC uses a two-digitIndex of Protection (IP) designation.
