Her maiden name <strong>was</strong>Helga Erdal, a daughter of Tore andIngeborg Erdal. <strong>She</strong> <strong>was</strong> born in Nordfjord,Norway, June 6, 1852, and came atthe age of twenty-two <strong>to</strong> America. In1876 she <strong>was</strong> married <strong>to</strong> Peder J. Berge,also from Nordfjord. In 1880 they came:<strong>to</strong> Pope Co., Minn., w<strong>her</strong>e they joinedthe local congregation. They <strong>to</strong>ok an.active part both in church work andcommunity affairs, and she served for.many years as president and as treasurer.of the congregation's Ladies' Aid. In1914 they moved <strong>to</strong> Glenwood, and in1932 <strong>to</strong> Starbuck, w<strong>her</strong>e they made their.home with a daughter, Mrs. G. G. Landmark.The surviving children are : Bertha,Mrs. I. B. Anderson ; Rev. Theo.Bergee ; Lena, Mrs. Alfred Ness ; Anna,Mrs. Thomas Anderson, whose husbandis a pas<strong>to</strong>r at Perley, Minn. ; Mina, Mrs.G. G. Landmark ; Ida, Mrs. Ole Lorvig ;Ingeborg; Ole ; John ; Hilda ; Anna, and'Oscar. Two infants preceded <strong>her</strong> in,death. Funeral services were conductedNov. 18. Rev. M. C. Johnshoy officiated,assisted by Rev. Theo: Bergee. Burial<strong>to</strong>ok place at the Chippewa Church,w<strong>her</strong>e the local pas<strong>to</strong>r, Rev. G. G. Bei<strong>to</strong>,officiated. Pas<strong>to</strong>r Theo. Bergee andThomas Anderson brought special greetings.Mr. Thomas Peterson <strong>was</strong> on Nov.28 <strong>buried</strong> from the Flange's Lut<strong>her</strong>anChurch north of Morris, Illinois, He<strong>was</strong> born in Sara<strong>to</strong>ga <strong>to</strong>wnship, Grundy.county, III., June 2, 1868, and died Nov.25, 1933. He served his congregation<strong>faith</strong>fully as trustee and deacon for over30 years. Aga of Manka<strong>to</strong>,paid a beautiful tribute <strong>to</strong> his mot<strong>her</strong>.<strong>She</strong> had been a good mot<strong>her</strong>, a kindneighbor, a true friend. • In the eveningof life she <strong>was</strong> much cheered <strong>to</strong> see <strong>her</strong>children at <strong>her</strong> bedside, while <strong>her</strong>thoughts were constantly lifted up inprayer and grateful trust <strong>to</strong> <strong>her</strong> Savior,who had called <strong>her</strong> home.The son-in-law, Rev. Sigurd T. Sorensonof Albert Lea, Minn., preachedthe funeral sermon from Heb. 4:9-11.The local pas<strong>to</strong>r, Rev. D. C. Jordahl,spoke in behalf of Lincoln congregation.In memoriam gifts <strong>to</strong> benevolences <strong>to</strong>taling$82.00 were presented by the children,the sisters and brot<strong>her</strong>s, and ot<strong>her</strong>relatives, the congregations of RedwoodFalls, Manka<strong>to</strong>, Albert Lea, and ThiefRiver Falls.Besides <strong>her</strong> husband, John J. Mrs. Aga <strong>was</strong> sixtythreeyears of age at the time of <strong>her</strong>death.Dorthea Sirena Thompson, wife ofHelge Johnson, Glen Flora, Wis., diedNov. 18. <strong>She</strong> <strong>was</strong> born at Fugleberg,Norway, May 29, 1866, came <strong>to</strong> Americain 1886 and <strong>was</strong> in 1890 united inmarriage <strong>to</strong> Helge Johnson. In 1897 thefamily moved <strong>to</strong> Glen Flora. Mrs. Johnsonleaves <strong>her</strong> husband and three sons :Clarence, Julius and Herbert. <strong>She</strong> passedaway in a childlike <strong>faith</strong> in Jesus Christ,whom she had long before <strong>her</strong> deathconfessed <strong>to</strong> <strong>her</strong> friends. <strong>She</strong> worked inthe Glen Flora congregation when thecountry lay a wilderness, and she lived<strong>to</strong> see it prosper.
