Hearing Implant Program - Hillcrest
Comprehensive hearing care is provided to patients of all ages. Services include diagnostic hearing
evaluations including newborn hearing testing, hearing aid selection and fitting including assistive
listening device (ALDs), noise protection and custom earmolds. The Hearing Implant Program (HIP)
offers evaluations to determine candidacy for cochlear implants (CIs), and programming (MAPping) of
the devices to patients of all ages. Additional services of the HIP program include communication
assessments of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, school observations/ consultations, auditory
verbal therapy and other audiologic (re)habilitation/therapies. All audiologists are licensed by the
State of Ohio and have their Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) through the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). For an appointment, call (440) 312-ENT1

Donald M. Goldberg, Ph.D.,
CCC-SLP/A. LSLS Cert. AVT
Co-Chair – Hearing Implant Program
Dr. Goldberg completed his master’s degree in speechlanguage
pathology in 1979 and his doctoral degree in
audiology in 1985 from the University of Florida. He is
dually certified in speech-language pathology and
audiology. Dr. Goldberg is also a Listening for Spoken
Language Specialist Certified Auditory-Verbal therapist
(LSLS Cert. AVT). Before joining the Cleveland Clinic in
2005, Dr. Goldberg was on the faculty at the College of
Wooster from 1996-2005 and worked in private practice
doing auditory-verbal therapy with children with severe
to profound hearing loss.
Dr. Goldberg’s clinical interests include cochlear
implants, auditory-verbal therapy, audiologic
(re)habilitation, communication assessment, pediatric
audiology, and educational audiology. He has an
active practice providing therapy services to infants,
children, and adults who are hearing impaired or deaf.
Kellie Tortorea, Au.D., CCC- A
Clinical Audiologist
Dr. Tortorea completed her master’s degree at the
University of Pittsburgh and her Doctor of Audiology
degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
She completed a one-year clinical fellowship at the
Cleveland Clinic before joining the audiology staff in
2001. Dr. Tortorea’s clinical interests include
pediatric and adult hearing testing and hearing aid
fitting, electrophysiologic assessment, audiologic
rehabilitation, Baha fittings in adults, OAEs and noise
protection. In addition to seeing patients in clinic, Dr.
Tortorea also administers newborn hearing
screenings at Hillcrest Hospital.
Nancy Adamson, M.A., CCC- A
Clinical Audiologist
Mrs. Adamson completed her master’s degree in
audiology at Cleveland State University. Prior to
joining the Cleveland Clinic in 2005, she worked at
a local private practice. Her clinical interests
include pediatric testing, newborn hearing testing
and auditory electrophysiology, pediatric and adult
hearing aids, and noise protection. In addition to
seeing patients in clinic, Mrs. Adamson is also the
coordinator of the universal newborn hearing
screening program at Hillcrest Hospital.
Michael Scott, Au.D., CCC-A
Cochlear Implant Audiologist
Dr. Scott received his master’s degree in deaf
education from Washington University in St.
Louis, Missouri and his Doctor of Audiology
degree from the Northeast Ohio Au.D.
Consortium (NOAC), a joint program between
Kent State University, University of Akron, and the
Cleveland Clinic. His clinical interests include
cochlear implants, pediatric testing, and
audiologic rehabilitation for adults and audiologic
habilitation for children.
Rachel Bibler, Au.D., CCC-A
Cochlear Implant Audiologist
Dr. Bibler received her Doctor of Audiology
degree from the Northeast Ohio Au.D.
Consortium (NOAC), a joint program between
Kent State University, University of Akron, and the
Cleveland Clinic. Her clinical interests include
cochlear implants, pediatric testing, and
audiologic habilitation and auditory-verbal therapy
for children.
