Camara was the recipient <strong>of</strong> the AlumnaeAssociation Endowed Entrance Scholarship, ascholarship established for the child <strong>of</strong> an alumna.What follows is a message from her mother Karenwho graduated from the <strong>Mount</strong> with her Bachelor<strong>of</strong> Child Study in 1981.…I would like to take this opportunity to extendmy sincere gratitude for being the recipient <strong>of</strong>the Alumnae Association Endowed EntranceScholarship. The generous money has been vitalto my attendance at the <strong>Mount</strong>. The campus, thepeople and the program fit me so well. I had alwaysheard the great stories my mom shared abouther days at the <strong>Mount</strong> and it is awesome to bemaking my own memories now. Second generationfriendships have been born since my mom hasstayed in close contact with some <strong>of</strong> her friendsfrom the <strong>Mount</strong> who now have a daughter in herfreshman year as well. I view it as the sequel totheir story. This scholarship means so much to mymother and I.Thank you, MichelleWhen Michelle received early acceptance from<strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Saint</strong> <strong>Vincent</strong> <strong>University</strong> in the fall <strong>of</strong> 2007,I was extremely proud <strong>of</strong> her. I knew that not onlywould she be receiving a terrific education, but shewould also meet some <strong>of</strong> the friendliest peoplein the world! I was elated to hear that Michellereceived the Alumnae Association EndowedEntrance Scholarship. This proves that the <strong>Mount</strong>truly values the importance <strong>of</strong> their relationshipwith their past graduates.Thank you, Karen<strong>Mount</strong> President and Vice-Chancellor, Kathryn Laurin was named one<strong>of</strong> Atlantic Business Magazine’s 2009 Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada.Since joining the <strong>University</strong> in 2006, Laurin has spearheaded thedevelopment <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>’s strategic plan, Destination 2012 andcontinues to drive its implementation. She was also recognized forher role in directing the <strong>Mount</strong>’s $16-million capital campaign that willhelp bring a new Teaching, Learning and Research Centre, as well asscholarships and an endowed chair in learning disabilities.The Top 50 were announced at a gala dinner in Halifax on May14, 2009. Candidates are nominated by the magazine’s readersand judged according to their corporate, community and industryinvolvement, the growth <strong>of</strong> their organizations and their response tomanagerial challenges.Folia Montana 5
