Following the presentation,students could “trick-or-treat” at eachfirm’s respective station. Halloweentrick-or-treat bags with candy andDelta Sigma Pi themed giveaways wereprovided to the first 100 students to usethroughout the evening. Additionally,giveaways such as candy and pens wereawarded to game winners from the firmsto put in their Halloween bags. –AlexisStutsCal Poly-San Luis Obispo/Kappa MuBrothers worked with pledges to decorateand fill drawstring bags for the childrenat the Prado Day Center. Teams picked atheme for their drawstring backpacks andthen made no-bake granola bars in shapesthat corresponded with their theme.After the backpack was fully decorated,teams filled the backpacks with goodiesand judges selected a winner based oncreativity and originality. The next day,brothers delivered the backpacks to thePrado Day Center in San Luis Obispo tobe handed out to children who visit theshelter. –Rebecca RogersKent State/Beta PiBrothers helped double the numberof donors for the Kent State Collegeof Business Blood Drive by passingout fliers and writing in chalk near theentrances of buildings. LifeShare andBusiness Experiences were so impressedthey want to partner with the chapter inthe future and led to LifeShare grantingtwo scholarships to Kent State students.–Maria AvilaCAL STATE-FRESNO toured Cisco Systems Inc. in SanJose. The visit included guest speakers of former interns (nowemployees), a tour of their Executive Briefing Center as well astheir Advanced Scenario Testing (AST) Lab.CALIFORNIA-SAN DIEGO soldhomemade KoreanBBQ at theiruniversity’s VendorFair.NORTH CAROLINA-GREENSBORO participated in the 7th Annual Branches of Lovehosted by UNC-Greensboro’s Alumni Association. Numerous campus organizationscompeted to decorate the best tree. On CampusMiami-Ohio/Alpha UpsilonThe chapter hosted its semi-annualBattle of the Bands competition atStadium Sports Bar & Grille. Thecompetition featured six bandsbased as close as Oxford and as faras Columbus, Ohio. The Chaptercontinues to organize the competitionfor the publicity the event offersthe organization and because of itspopularity with Miami students.The contest is the chapter’s biggestfundraiser of the year and all proceedsgo to fund the various speakers thechapter brings to Miami and the tripschapter members take throughout theyear. Bands were recruited throughword-of-mouth in various campusorganizations and through DeltaSigma Pi members’ connectionsthroughout Ohio. –The Miami StudentNevada-Reno/Delta PiIn honor of Todd Daines (July 29, 1991– July 20, 2012) who was describedas an energetic and charismaticbrother,his family began a scholarshipin his name. Brothers from theChapter raised over $1,000 by sellingbracelets engraved with “BrotherhoodIs Forever” and “R.I.P. Thechapter hosted a cupcake fundraiserthat allowed people to decorate theirown cupcakes. –Alex LeporeROCKHURST co-hosted “Dinner with the Industry”, an annual networking event hostedwith the Helzberg School of Management, career services and the Student Advisory Board.The event’s honorary chairman is Barnett Helzberg of Helzberg Diamonds. Over 150 studentsattended the event with 22 industry leaders from the Kansas City area in fields from businessto law to finance.RIDER celebrated Founders’ Day by joining together and playing different games. The groupwas split into two teams: the cranberry team (Beta Xi even numbers) and the white team (BetaXi odd numbers). After the day of games the group continued the celebration with cake.St. Joseph’s/Zeta PiRoss Born, CEO of Just Born, spokeabout his experience with branding,marketing and owning and operating afamily business famous for producingPeanut Chews, Peeps and Mike and Ikes.–Breanne MealeyTEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI participated in the American Cancer Society’s MakingStrides Against Breast Cancer Walk in October.Texas Christian/Delta UpsilonRick Fairless, an entrepreneur from Dallas,spoke about starting, maintaining andsuccessfully running his own business. Hisbusiness, Strokers Dallas, designs and buildscustom motorcycles.
