PerezSuperintendentPrincipal______________________________________________________________________________________________SCHOOL BULLETINFor Tuesday, March 8, 2011Page 2 of 2 Attention EVERYONE (Gupot Chamoru): <strong>Here</strong> are a few updates regarding our upcoming Gupot Chamoru Friday Event on March 18th: 1) Modified bellschedule--see end of bulletin. 2) King's Restaurant school lunch will be served for students wishing to eat in the cafeteria during scheduled "lunch time."Special menu will be requested by admin. 3) Due to students <strong>not</strong> being allowed to bring in food prepared from home we are asking that HR Teachers byDepartments assist in taking orders for students who may want to eat a "fiesta plate" that day. 4) Homeroom teachers will be responsible for identifying avendor, ASAP, take student orders, & collect their payment. You may deposit it to the Business Office. 5) Gupot Chamoru fiesta plates will be distributed byHR teachers ONLY DURING GUPOT CHAMORRO. 6) Teachers are allowed to choose and purchase from any vendor as long as they have a businesslicense--(Freshmen Academy teachers, please check with your team leader.) 7) Please work with vendor to ensure fiesta plates cost no more than $5; this is<strong>not</strong> a fundraising event therefore do <strong>not</strong> increase the price for profit. We need to be consistent with the price across departments unless you are offering otherfood items. 8) Please <strong>not</strong>e and inform students that they are <strong>not</strong> required to buy Gupot Chamoru fiesta plates; this is strictly optional. 9) Departments arerequested to be responsible for the set up and breakdown of their canopy if they choose to have one in addition to the set up tables and chairs if you opt to. 10)Teachers may deposit monies collected for food plates to the business office and a check will be cut to your vendor upon request. 11) Departments may opt totake orders for pancit plates, lumpia, barbeque sticks again as long as they have a business license. We may have outside vendors to sell food snacks. 12) SBAand admin will be selling water and juice. 13) Students may wear island print or school/club t-shirts that day. 14) Everyone is encouraged to help with theclean up 30 mins before dismissal; entertainment will stop at that time. 15) For inquiries regarding presenters/performers please see Si<strong>not</strong> Aguon. We willkeep you posted should there be any updates or changes. Attention Everyone (Website): The new and improved <strong>Simon</strong> <strong>Sanchez</strong> High School website, complete with podcasts and helpful links, will be available atthe end of the first week of March. Any and all updates, contributions, and suggestions should be forwarded to Ms. Kathryn Elsing. The professional webdesigner we used: ComQueen Inc. Attention EVERYONE (Tutoring Services): AmeriCorps students will be offering tutoring services Mondays through Thursdays in the library from 7-11:30 a.m. AND 6 TH PERIOD. For more information, please see Mrs. Mesa in Room 201. Attention EVERYONE (Remember Pearl Harbor Essay Contest): Write a 1,000-words-or-less essay about, “Why Should We Remember Pearl Harbor?”and you can win $1000 (1 st place), $750 (2 nd place), or $500 (3 rd place). Entries must be submitted to the website, seewww.nationalww2museum.org/essaycontests for instructions, by March 31, 2011, 5:00 p.m. CST. The museum will only accept the first 500 properlyformatted entries!!! Check it out and enter! Attention EVERYONE (Call for Phone Books): The GTA Used Phone Book Round-up Contest has started as of Tuesday, February 1, 2011, and endson March 31, 2011. Please bring all used phone books to Mr. Kamiaz or Ms.Blas in the science building. Winners get cash prizes. Help recycle, and GoSharks! Attention EVERYONE (T-Shirt Fundraiser): Go GREEN! Club is doing a t-shirt fundraiser until the end of April. The price right now is $11. <strong>If</strong> you areinterested in placing an order, please see Mr. Kamiaz in Room 406. Attention EVERYONE (Plants Needed): Mr. Kamiaz is looking for all kinds of trees, especially fruit trees, to plant along our back fence area. He is alsolooking for dwarf coconut trees to plant along the fence to hide the trash dumpsters in the front of the school. <strong>If</strong> you have trees, please bring or donate yourseedlings, or young trees, to room 406. SSHS Student Store Sales: Are you in need of school supplies such as <strong>not</strong>ebooks, pens, pencils, etc? Well then come on down to the student store in Room302 during the first half of lunch. Need to do research, print a last minute paper, or just surf the web? Well then come check out the internet cafe' in Room311 during the first half of lunch. To print one page colored is 75 cents and to print one page black and white is 25 cents. See you there! Attention Seniors: Cap & Gown Orders are ongoing through March 18. Please see Ms. Espiritu in Rm. 415 to place your order. Attention Seniors: The Josten's representative will be on campus March 22 and 23 to take RING ORDERS ONLY! Attention Seniors: Any graduating 2011 senior who receives a disciplinary suspension for any level 2 or 3 offense during the second semester WILL NOTBE ALLOWED TO WALK in the graduation ceremony scheduled in May 2011. This bulletin serves as one of the official announcements of this schoolpolicy. Please be aware that our superintendent, deputy superintendent, and board members will receive <strong>not</strong>ice of this policy should you wish to dispute anyof our decisions regarding this matter. Attention Seniors: Seniors- <strong>If</strong> you did <strong>not</strong> take your picture with Mr. Mapote, you will <strong>not</strong> be placed in the yearbook. <strong>If</strong> you took your picture with anoutside company, it will <strong>not</strong> be accepted. Ad Rates- Full Page $150.00-Free Yearbook, Half Page $75.00, Quarter Page $35.00. Design Fee ($20.00-$25.00)only applicable to students who wish the Yearbook Class to design the ad space. Chamoru (Inetnon) Club Meetings: Meetings are held every Monday during the first half of lunch in Room 118. Choir Club Meetings: Choir club meets Thursdays during the second half of lunch in Room 212. Everyone is welcomed! Close-Up Club Meetings: Meetings are held every Thursday in Room 228 during the first half of lunch. See Mr. Escalona for details. Faith Bible Club Meetings: Meetings for Faith Bible Club are held on Thursdays during lunch in Room 203. Everyone is welcomed!
