I was fortunate to be invited toa Christmas lunch held at the TedCrowe Room at the Somerset CountyCricket ground, organised by the OldBlundellian Cricket Club. It was a lovelyoccasion and a chance to hear aboutthe great success of the County teamlast season. If you are interested inenjoying this wonderful facility in theforthcoming cricket season, you need to be a member ofthe Old Blundellian Club or an invited guest and must bookin first with the Room Steward, David Dobson. Please makecontact with him at dobsond@gotadsl.co.uk, or call on 01288353366, or 07721 098331.Please remember thatplaces are limited and notalways available.I would like to thank youall so much forparticipating in the AnnualFund which was launchedin September. This is anincreasingly important element of the Blundell’sdevelopment programme, enabling us to invest in a numberof projects chosen each year to enhance and enrich theeducational experiences of our pupils. This year we arehoping to purchase new pianos,science telescopic equipment, Preprepand Prep School playgroundequipment, additional equipment forthe new Fitness Suite and ActivitiesProgramme and enhancements toOndaatje Hall for theatre productions.The fund also supports our priorityproject, The Peter Blundell FoundationAward, which enables children whowouldn’t normally be able to secure aBlundell’s education to do so. The support received so far isvery encouraging, but additional participation is alwayswelcome to ensure all projects are fully funded during thenext academic year. It will keep youupdated on School events both on and off campus and youcan also see photos from past Old Blundellian events; findus under ‘Blundell’s School Community’. LinkedIn andTwitter should also be up and running very shortly.Following the great success of the Business Directory, weare now launching a similar initiative to provide mentoringand careers advice support to members of the Blundell’scommunity. Please register if you feel you could offer eitherguidance or work experience opportunities. If you arethinking of a career change or exploring a particularprofession, please contact us, as we have recently had anumber of successes with work experience offers both inthe UK and Europe.Once again, may I take this opportunity to thank you all foryour continued support of the Blundell’s DevelopmentOffice. It really is very much appreciated. If you would like jointhe team or perhaps comeback to Blundell’s to play ina game against one ofBlundell’s current 1st teamsplease email the OB Club atobclub@blundells.org with alist of sports you areinterested in supporting.See Upcoming Events for alist of current OB games.HONG KONG 2011Last October, Ian Davenport and Amber Oliver ventured out to Hong Kong andChina where they held a very successful reunion for Old Blundellians, pastand current parents and current pupils visiting home over the holidays.We are most grateful to those who entertainedus on our brief visit, which included a delightfulevening at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, an 18hour visit to China to meet current parents anda final evening meal in a central Hong Kongrestaurant with Old Blundellians Dan Parr (P90-95), Guy Nowell (P 69-74), Toby Bland (SH84-89) and other guests. This won’t be our lasttrip to Hong Kong; next time we hope to seethose whom we regrettably were unable tomeet due to an extensive itinerary and limitedtime. The reception in The China Club Librarywas held thanks to the generous support fromOld Blundellian Tobias Bland (SH 84-89) and hiscolleague Tim Rainsford.The reunion was part of the School’s aim tobring together old friends and make newcontacts from the Blundell’s Community inHong Kong and China.
