D EVELOPMENT O FFICE AND O LD B LUNDELLIAN C LUBEventsHare & HoundsAlumni Race 2011The Annual Hare and HoundsAlumni Race took place againthis year on WimbledonCommon in London. AlistairKnight (NC 70-74) & Will Holland(P 86-91) represented Blundell’sin a daring attempt to win thecoveted trophy and of coursebragging rights. However, Alistairfell foul of a moved flag whichforced him to run off course andhe was therefore disqualifiedfrom scoring for the team,although that didn’t stop himfrom continuing the run. He didreceive an official apology fromthe Hare and Hounds president.Will also had a great run despitea very swollen ankle and he alsocompleted the run despite hisinjuries. Special thanks go toboth runners and to the teamCaptain, Giles Stimson (NC 60-65) for organising our runnersand taking photos. He willcertainly be joining the team nextyear and encouraging runnersfrom the Blundellian communityto take part and compete for thecoveted winner’s trophy!BOOK LAUNCH 15TH OCT 2011The launch of ‘A History of Blundell’s’, the new book by<strong>School</strong> Archivist Mike Sampson, was a terrific successwith over 100 people queuing up to get their bookssigned in Ondaatje Hall. Many stayed on for aninformative lecture from the author, which gave aninsight into the long history of the <strong>School</strong>. The lectureconcluded with a lunch reception in Big <strong>School</strong>, givingpast and present staff, parents, Old Blundellians,governors and supporters a chance to discuss theirmemories of the <strong>School</strong>.The day continued with a short tour of the exterior ofOld Blundell’s, followed by a hunt for famous OldBlundellian R.D. Blackmore’s name, which is inscribedon the front of the building. This was won by Blundelliansupporter Robert Nanney-Williams.
