Afterposting the position internally, Mrs.Skipski eagerly expressed interest inthe position, interviewed, and waswelcomed to her new role, along withher current role <strong>of</strong> part-time Pre-SchoolAide. She is a graduate <strong>of</strong> Shelby HSwhere she played volleyball, participated in track, andsoccer. She was the MCC middle school assistantvolleyball coach last season and is slated to be theMS head coach this fall. Mrs. Skipski also receivedher Early Childhood Development degree from WestShore <strong>Community</strong> College. Her husband, Kevin, is an’85 alumnus <strong>of</strong> MCC.I recently asked Mrs. Skipski to elaborate on the followingareas <strong>of</strong> her new position as Athletic Director:*What is your philosophy <strong>of</strong> athletics/extracurricularteams in school?“Being a part <strong>of</strong> any athletic or extracurricular team at<strong>Manistee</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> Central is a privilege. It is vital thateach team represents our school and its commitmentto faith. I strongly believe that participating in athleticsand extracurricular teams give students an opportunityto develop team building skills and learn the importance<strong>of</strong> commitment and punctuality, thus playing a key rolein their growth and development as individuals.”*What did athletics do for you as a student athlete?“Being a student athlete provided me with several opportunitiesto grow as an individual. I quickly learned theimportance <strong>of</strong> being a team player, while workingtogether with others towards a common goal. I alsovalued commitment to myself. It takes integrity to seeeverything through no matter how difficult it becomes.I had a responsibility to myself and others to bring 100%<strong>of</strong> myself to every practice and every game.”*What are your top 3 goals for this new position?1.
