70th AIOC Proceedings, Cochin 2012This leads to vascular engorgement, increased choroidal volume, and a rise inintraocular pressure. This experiment studied change of intraocular pressure recorded by a handheld Rebound tonometer of 22 male members of a band while playing varietyof wind instruments. A definite rise of intraocular pressure was noted whichwas statistically significant. This rise of IOP while playing wind instrumentshas also been substantiated by other workers. 2,3 The Rebound tonometer can beused while the individual plays the instrument in sitting or standing positionand does not require any anaesthetic agent for recording intraocular pressure.Six readings are taken and the final record of intraocular pressure is shown onthe display preceded by the letter “P”. If the “P” reading is static, the readingis of greatest reliability. In this study, clumps of pigment were found in the angle of the anterior chambersignifying transient angle closure, possibly during the repeated episodes of300Pigment clumps in gonioscopy
