You can also perform earth ground tests in places youhave not considered before: inside buildings, on power pylonsor anywhere you don’t have access to soil.With the stakeless testing method, the Fluke 1630 EarthGround Clamp Meter is placed around the earth ground rod orthe connecting cable. No earth ground stakes are used at all.A known voltage is induced by one half of the clamp and thecurrent is measured by the other half. The tester automaticallydetermines the ground loop resistance at this groundingconnection. Equipmentgrounding is to ensure that operatingequipment within a structure is properlygrounded.These two grounding systems arerequired to be separate except for aconnection between the two systemsto prevent differences in potential froma possible flashover from a lightningstrike.
