MITOCHONDRIA<br />

Steroid-secreting cells also exhibit unusual diversity in the form of the cristae in<br />

their mitochondria. Those shown here, for example, have small alveolar cristae along<br />

the inner membrane, longitudinally oriented lamellar cristae (single arrows), and bundles<br />

of parallel tubules coursing in various directions in the matrix (double arrows).<br />
