COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEEThe composition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong> is as follows:All universities accredited by SABPP have a seat at <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong> and <strong>the</strong>y will all be invited toattend <strong>committee</strong> meetings. While it may not always be feasible for all universities to attend allmeetings, regional meetings (e.g. Western Cape or Eastern Cape) may also be arranged. TheHead or Chair <strong>of</strong> all HR academic departments have a seat at <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong>, but may send arepresentative if not available to attend a meeting.When two or more representatives from one university are present, only one vote will count.The HE <strong>committee</strong> will meet at least three times a year, or at more regular intervals whenrequired.Meetings will alternate between universities to ensure that members are exposed to alluniversities over time.The HE <strong>committee</strong> will co‐opt senior HR pr<strong>of</strong>essionals to provide inputs into HR curriculum as<strong>the</strong> voice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>ession.A Chairperson and Vice‐chairperson from different universities will be elected on an annualbasis. Additional members, or sub‐<strong>committee</strong> members may be co‐opted when required.The <strong>committee</strong> may from time to time recommend and approve a seat or seats for specialinterest groups with <strong>the</strong> aim <strong>of</strong> being inclusive <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> HR pr<strong>of</strong>essional or academic market, or toaddress certain key priorities requiring special attention.Academics from all accredited universities are invited to participate in <strong>the</strong> SABPP HumanResource Research Initiative (HRRI) projects and to build on <strong>the</strong>se projects in <strong>the</strong>ir ownresearch.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following roles and responsibilities need to be fulfilled:A Chairperson is elected on an annual basis to oversee <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong>. The chair <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong> will prepare an annual report outlining <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong> to be includedin <strong>the</strong> SABPP Integrated Report.A Vice‐chair is elected annually to assist <strong>the</strong> chair and to oversee specific <strong>committee</strong> projects.The CEO will keep <strong>the</strong> HE <strong>committee</strong> informed <strong>of</strong> important SABPP strategic initiatives affectinguniversities. The CEO will drive <strong>the</strong> execution <strong>of</strong> decisions taken and provide feedback to <strong>the</strong>SABPP Board about <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>committee</strong>. The CEO is responsible for ensuring alignmentwith <strong>the</strong> SABPP Charter and Strategy.The SABPP Head <strong>of</strong> Learning and Quality will manage <strong>the</strong> process <strong>of</strong> accreditation.SABPP Higher Education CommitteeHewlett‐Packard Company 3
