Tohelp developers shorten development cycles and boost application performance for multicore designs, thecompany <strong>in</strong>troduced production-ready VortiQa software. GDA announced add<strong>in</strong>g IBM's <strong>Power</strong>PC 440T90to its exist<strong>in</strong>g 405S and 460S products us<strong>in</strong>g TSMC 90nm process technology optimized for performance, lowpower dissipation and optimized die size. The news about both the <strong>Power</strong>7 and PPC476FPdemonstrated superior performance with greater energy efficiency than any product offer<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the markettoday, extend<strong>in</strong>g the scalability of IBM’s <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong> solutions <strong>in</strong> both the server market and embeddedapplications and provid<strong>in</strong>g a growth platform for emerg<strong>in</strong>g applications.• The Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Adm<strong>in</strong>istration (NNSA) ordered a supercomputer us<strong>in</strong>g<strong>Power</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong> technology from IBM that will be able to deliver 20 Petaflops performance by 2012.• IBM reached a significant milestone as the microprocessor supplier for N<strong>in</strong>tendo Co., Ltd., by complet<strong>in</strong>g theshipment of 50 million processors for the Wii game system, which has tremendous worldwide salesmomentum. There are three configurations of L2 (256K, 512K and 1M) to allow customer optimization <strong>in</strong> agiven application.• Virage Logic Corporation was named an IBM <strong>Power</strong>PC Design Center, grant<strong>in</strong>g it the rights to license anddistribute IBM's <strong>Power</strong>PC processor cores and peripheral cores when comb<strong>in</strong>ed with Virage Logic's broadportfolio of semiconductor IP.
