6.3.16 Historic landmarks are a point orstructure that is of historic interestoutside the Conservation Area. Theseinclude:• Sea Mills Harbour Walls• Remains of a Roman villa• Original railway bridge over the River Trym6.3.17 The maritime history of Sea Mills is ofsignificance. The only listed structureswithin the Conservation Area are theoriginal harbour walls, which function asa historic landmark.Local Policy ReferencesBristol Local PlanPolicy B2 (I – IV)‘Development should be designed with regardto the local context. Proposals whichwould cause unacceptable harm to the<strong>character</strong> and/or appearance of an area, orto the visual impact of historic buildings,views or landmarks, will not be permitted.’Figure 40: Grade II listed harbour walls6.3.18 The remains of a Roman villa lie just eastof the Portway, opposite Hadrian Close.This is the earliest historic landmarkin the Conservation Area, though it isunlisted and unscheduled.Landmark Buildings are identified at Map 3* Unlisted Buildings of Merit (Relative Merit ofUnlisted Buildings Map 6)31.
