PROPERTYThe <strong>School</strong> buildings are located on a point overlookingNoxontown Pond, two miles from the center of Middletown,twenty-five miles south of Wilmington, and about sixty milesfrom Philadelphia. The surrounding country is rich farm land,of many historic associations with Colonial Delaware and Revolutionarytimes.The main building, a modern fireproof unit, provides completeaccommodations for a hundred and seventeen boys. Theyounger boys sleep in cubicles in open dormitories, the olderboys in double rooms. There are also the Headmaster's House,eight masters' houses, a three-family annex, the Gymnasium,two boat houses, and a Maintenance Building. The Gymnasiumhouses a large basketball floor, a wrestling roo1n, four squashcourts, a rowing machine room, four small dormitories, andlocker and shower accommodations for the whole <strong>School</strong>.The property comprises three hundred and fifty acres, mostof which is under cultivation. On one edge the property isbounded by Noxontown Pond, which is two miles long, and onanother by Silver Lake, three-quarters of a mile in length. Theentire property is posted as a sanctuary for birds, animals, andplants.On the <strong>School</strong> grounds are five football fields, three separatebaseball diamonds, and six tennis courts. The <strong>School</strong> has itsown piers on Noxontown Pond. The waters of this lake arewell known fishing grounds, and provide good swimming andsailing. They are suited to rowing, which has been conducted onan organized scale since I 932.Besides the <strong>School</strong> plant there is the Farm, operated by the<strong>School</strong> as a separate unit.
