CURRICULUMLessons in piano and other instruments are given to boyswhose parents request lessons. No charge is made for these toboys whose seriousness and progress in music warrant it.During the winter and spring terms remedial reading is givenall boys who need it.One-third credit is given for Sacred <strong>St</strong>udies in the Third,Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Forms, total not to exceed one credit.Courses are listed by form, but a boy will frequently take oneor more courses out of form, depending on his preparation ina particular subject, or on the college entrance requirementswhich he is satisfying. The <strong>School</strong> reserves the right to place aboy forward or back, as his best interests require.Beginning with the Fourth Form there is a widening range ofsubjects, but the <strong>School</strong> does not recommend nor do the collegesdesire over-specialization in any particular field.Integrally related to the regular instruction is the voluntarywork of enthusiasts who form the boards of the <strong>School</strong> publicationsand th.e membership of the Criss-Cross Club, <strong>St</strong>amp Club,Rifle Club, Science Club; and Camera Club. The <strong>School</strong> Band,Dance Band, Choir, and Glee Club are part of the musical trainingwhich is extended to all boys through the courses in Music.To receive the <strong>School</strong>'s diploma a boy must have fifteen creditsas defined by the requirements of the College Entrance ExaminationBoard. These credits must include three in English, two inalgebra, one in plane geometry, two in a foreign language, andone each in history and science.<strong>St</strong>. <strong>Andrew's</strong>, on the accredited list of the <strong>St</strong>ate Board of Educationand the Middle <strong>St</strong>ates Association of Colleges and Secondary<strong>School</strong>s, prepares all boys planning to go to college for theexaminations of the College Entrance Examination Board.For most subjects the forms meet in small divisions whichenable close individual attention.
