1.6 Indicia areaThis section covers PermitPostimpressions.PermitPost impressions must be located on the front ofthe mail piece on the same side as the delivery address.PermitPost impressions (also known as indicias) can bedesigned as Standard or Customised formats and arerequired for both machine sorted and manually sortedmail items. Only Standard PermitPost impressions arepermitted for machine sorted mail. The table on the rightlists the requirements for both types.A PDF of an approved Standard PermitPostimpression is available for you to download and use atwww.nzpost.co.nz/permitpost. 1.7 Approved FreePostFreePost is a versatile, cost-effectiveservice for businesses, organisationsor individuals wanting to maximisethe response rates to their mailings,advertising and direct marketingpromotions. It’s the mail version of afreephone number, enabling customersto contact businesses by mail free ofcharge. Approved FreePost is availablefor medium-sized, non-windowenvelopes only.Key elements• The minimum envelope size is 92mm high and165mm long.• Only non-window envelopes can be used forApproved FreePost.• The FreePost Authority Number must be written onone line and located in the sender address/companylogo area.• Use approved Pantone black or dark blue type 3 FIMindicia (i.e. triple bars), FreePost and New ZealandPost button impressions (please refer to page 22).• Address panel bar widths (i.e. the black bars locatedat each end of the envelope) must be a minimum of2mm and a maximum of 5mm, and cannot extend intothe indicia area.Please see pages 22-24 for further information aboutlayout.
