3913025 07.13 Submittal Data SheetMCAS 16-36Job Name:Job Location:Architect/Engineer:Representative:Job #:Contractor:ENERVEX Job File:UseThe MCAS is a mechanical air supply system used tocontrol and maintain proper supply of combustion air forboilers, water heaters, and other Category I, II, III or IVheating appliances. There are no limitations on its use withthese appliances.DescriptionThe MCAS system consists of an air supply fan, SFTATube Axial Fan and the EBC30, Modulating Fan Control. The EBC30 maintains a perfect, constant pressure in themechanical room where the heating appliances are installedby modulating the speed of the supply fan. A variable speeddrive is also part of the system when Box Ventilators with1HP or more are used. The MCAS system is supplied as a complete package withfan(s), control(s) pressure sensor and outdoor pressureprobe.OperationDuring installation the EBC30 automatically detectsconnections, setting requirements and any add-on devices. The planned pressure setting (usually 0.012”WC) mustbe entered manually via the control panel. After thesesteps have been taken, the control will keep the settingsin memory. The control is shipped with factory settings, however, it can be pre-programmed for an individual job. Each appliance is interlocked with the control. A call forheat activates the supply fan and releases the burner oncethe pre-set room pressure is established. The sequence isrepeated every time a new heating appliance calls for heat. When an appliance shuts down, the fan will slow downwhile still maintaining the pressure setting. When the lastappliance shuts down the supply fan will operate in postpurgemode for a preset time period. The integrated proven pressure function will shut downthe entire system in case of a power failure to the supplyfan or the Variable Speed Drive (if installed) or mechanicalfailure. During a following call for heat, the OperatingPriority function will detect if one or more appliances canbe operated safely and with proper air supply. If so, theappliance(s) will be able to operate without fan operation. After two (2) hours, fan operation is checked and if present, the control will go back to normal operation. Otherwise, it willcontinue to operate in Operating Priority mode. The self-checkis repeated every two (2) hours infinitely. During a period withoutfan operation, the control is in alarm mode.If the supply fan has been out of commission for seven (7) days, the Bearing Cycle Activation function will operate the fan at alow speed for a short time. This is automatically repeated everyseven (7) days, if the fan has not been operating.Any errors detected during operation are shown on the digitaldisplay screen.SizesThe system is available in multiple sizes as shown on thefollowing page, and virtually handles any heating appliance(s)independent of input/HPListingsETL-listed to UL Standard 1995 for Safety Heating and CoolingEquipment as well as Canadian Standard CSA C22.2, No. 236-97.CSI SpecificationsCSI Model Specifications are available from ENERVEX and viathe internet at www.enervex.com.
