Thatthis signifies that there was not as yet conjunction in every waywith the celestial of the natural is evident from the signification of“remembering Joseph” as being the reception of faith (of whichabove, see n. 5130), and consequently conjunction, becauseconjunction is effected by means of faith; here therefore “notremembering” means that there was not as yet conjunction in everyway; and from the representation of the prince of the butlers, asbeing the sensuous of the intellectual part; and from therepresentation of Joseph, as being the celestial of the natural (ofwhich above).5170. And he forgot him. That this signifies removal is evidentfrom the signification of “forgetting” when not remembering isnonconjunction, as being removal; for it is according tononconjunction that removal takes place. That which falls intooblivion is also removed.
