Pictures can oftenportray more easily what is hard to express inwords. We want to help celebrate the UnitedNations sanctioned day that aims to promote anunderstanding of people with disability andencourage support for their dignity, rights andwell-being. SO- South Western Sydney LocalHealth District is holding its second photocompetition.Get your i-phones, androids and cameras clicking!Our theme for photos entries is: “My abilities ” which is about creating an inclusive andaccessible society for all.Photos: Enter your best photo showinghow able and creative people with a disability are and what inspirational role models theycan be in overcoming the barriers and challenges that disability can present.Photos may involve pictures of your ability eg how you* connect with your landscape/environment/community,* join in sporting or team activities with others,* help and motivate others* express your creative side* engage with animals etcGreat Prizes !!JB HiFi vouchers!(Adults, 1 st $200, 2 nd $100, 3 rd $50; Under 18s, 1 st $100, 2 nd $75, 3 rd $50)Competition Rules1. Limit: Max of 2 entries per participant2. Participation:Entry is ONLY open to People with a Disability.

A disability can be:• A physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities.• A disadvantage or handicap that restricts the ability to perform a normal activity of dailyliving .Entrants are in two categories - 1. Adults aged 18 years of age or older and2. School aged participants under 18yrs.Those entering under 18yrs provide parental permission/ sign on application form.3. Photo Format: Color, B&W, JPEG format are acceptedDigital File Size Max 2 MG4. Copyright: You must own all legal rights to your submitted photos andthe photo must have been taken within the last 12 months. Digital images submitted are forexhibition selection only and will be deleted after completion of the selection process. By enteringthe competition, entrants grant permission for the SWSLHD to use the entries during 2013-2014 fora touring exhibition to promote positive aspects of managing disability. Rights to use the selectedimage(s) on printed materials and the SWSLHD web site are for promotional purposes only.5. Closing date: Entries must be received by COB on 22 November 2013. Entries andapplication form should be submitted via email ( carersprogramwz@sswahs.nsw.gov.au ) beforethis date.6. Privacy: Entrants contact information (address, telephone, etc.) is only held for the purposeof contacting selected entrants and is not preserved in any database. Entry data and image files aredeleted on the completion of the jury process. All entrant email details will be added to our futureevents announcement email list. Those who do not wish to be on the email list may unsubscribewhen they receive their notification..7. Entry FEES: Entry is FREE. Entrants must submit their work with an applicationform which can be downloaded atwww.swslhd.nsw.gov.au/services/carers/pdf/photo_comp.pdf8. Judging: The photos submitted will be judged based on the creativity, originality and inaccordance to the contest theme (My abilities) The judging panel will include a photographer, acultural consultant , health service representative , artistic service representative and arepresentative with a disability . The Judges decision is final.Prizes and PresentationPrizes will be awarded for under 18years of age and over 18 years entries.
