This system is able to provide dilution factorsthat are applied to in situ estimates to project the finalproduct delivered to the mill• Mineral Reserves quoted reflect the grade delivered tothe mill rather than an in situ channel grade quoted inrespect of Mineral Resources• The material reduction in the Mineral Resource estimateis the result of various changes including the exclusionof an area in the southern extremity on the so-calledFourth and Fifth Bafokeng area, the introduction of the2 350m below surface depth cut-off, the reduction inareas earmarked for the bord-and-pillar mining as wellas changes in extraction rates• The apparent increase in Mineral Reserves can largelybe ascribed to the inclusion of additional UG2 areas atexisting shafts which were off-set by the reduction inbord-and-pillar reserves. In addition some white areaswere written off from a safety perspective• The year-on-year reduction in Proved Mineral Reservesillustrates that main development is under pressure tokeep up with stoping operations. This is a high priorityand additional measures have been introduced tomanage the availability of Mineral Reserves• Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve grades areshown as both 5PGE+Au and 3PGE+Au• Rounding of numbers may result in minor computationaldiscrepancieswww.implats.co.za 26 Implats Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve Statement 2010
