MimosaMimosa is located in Zimbabwe, east of Bulawayo inthe Wedza Complex of the Great Dyke. PGM MineralResources at Mimosa are located in four erosionallyisolated and fault-bounded blocks, consisting from northto south of: the North Hill, South Hill, the Mtshingwe andFar South Hill areas. The Mimosa Mine is located in theeastern part of the South Hill block. The north-north-easttrendinglayered igneous rocks within the layering dip fromthe sides towards the axis of the intrusion and flatten outnear the centre.Mimosa holds contiguous mining rights for a total area of6 590ha across the Wedza Complex in the Great Dyke.As at 30 June 2010, Implats owned a 50% shareholdingin Mimosa Investments Limited (with Aquarius PlatinumLimited owning the remaining 50%).Underground stoping operations at Mimosa arebeing conducted by means of mechanised bord-andpillarmethods. The mining method comprises a fullymechanised operation.The platinum-bearing Main Sulphide Zone (MSZ) liesabout 10m below the base of the mafic sequence and is acontinuous layer between 2m and 3m thick that forms anelongated basin.
