NAD KlimaLinear diffuserDescription, Areas of application and BenefitsLinear diffuser SAL 35The SAL 35 slot diffuser is a lineardiffuser with 35 mm-wide profiles. Itcomprises eccentric ABS cylinders thatslide into extruded aluminum profilesmounted on a plenum. The SAL 35 is available in single ormultiple slot versions depending onapplication and air quantity required. The components may be installed in arow, one beside the other, creating alinear slot of air diffusion.Areas of application- Comfort zones with average ceilingheights- Zones with high level of air mixingand low air velocity- Situations where the diffusers mustadapt to contours and colours of thepremises- Systems with variable airflow rates- Offices, conference halls, computer(class-) rooms, clean rooms, shoppingmalls, cinemas, theatres, etc.Product benefits- Adjustment of exit velocity andairflow rate without leveling off dueto the variations of the cylindersections- Influence over the critical distance ofairflow (e. g. expansion)- Influence over the induction phenomenon (diffused mode)- Adjustable level of air blast penetration- Optional removal of the Coanda effect- Adjustable air blast direction- Adjustable reproductive diffuser- Diffuser settings defined and appliedduring the manufacturing phase- Diffuser adjustments still possibleafter installation- Diffuser settings not disturbed bycleaning operationsSubject to technical changes. Thecharacters on this disk define andreproduce the cylinders setting at will. The profiles on the plenum arefastened by rivets for suspendedceiling applications and by a centralscrew for gypsum ceilings.Method of operationThe eccentric cylinder, aided by theprofiles, create a strong stream, dragging in the air. Near the cylinder'ssurface, an air depression takes place. In this manner, exiting air from the slotflows out steadily and changes directionwithout hindering the low soundpower. Simultaneously, an importantinduction of ambient air takes placewith the exiting air zoneThe positioning of the eccentriccylinder permits the adjustment of theair blast without levelling off, with orwithout reducing the exiting airsection. To maintain the air blast's consistencyand direction perpendicular to thecylinder's axis with the most regularitypossible, the cylinder has smallprofiles that direct the air stream.Mode of operationSetting air blast directionDue to the depression zone around theeccentric cylinder, the air flow directionis adjustable in a 180° range. For everydirection, there are two cylinderpositions (with section "reduced" or"not reduced"). This is illustrated in thefollowing diagram. If diffusers arefree-hanging, the air blast direction isalways such as indicated on thediagram. When installed flush withceiling, with an active cylinder length of300 mm, under-the-ceiling airflow willtake place by Coanda effect in cylinderpositions EF, F6, 1A, AB and 21, 32, 54,65. The cylinders, each individuallyadjustable, are 100 mm in length. The result is a seemingly infinite quantityof airflow combinations. At theplant, cylinders are normally set atalternating positions 1A and F6(diffused mode). This setting provides ahigh induction airflow that can beprovided even with high cooling loadsand high air changeover figures.2 1.1.3 SAL 35Subject to technical changes. NAD KlimaLinear diffuserControl of the direction of the air jetControlling Air Blast DirectionBecause of the depression zone aroundthe eccentric cylinder, directing theairflow permits changing direction on a180° basis .Therefore, the airflow combinations arepractically infinite. For the diffusedmode, cylinders must be set accordingto applications illustrated in thediagrams 2 1 and 6 5 in alternatingorder. This setting produces a highinduction airflow that can be operationaleven with high cooling loads andhigh air changeover figures.Notes :The adjustable side of the cylindermust be at the left of the air inputconnection.Even if many slots are installed, eachparallel with the next, any kind ofairflow pattern or air blast directionmay be achieved by setting variouscombinations. When all cylinders of the first slot areadjusted to 2 1 and those of the secondslot to 6 5, this setting provides an airblast in two directions (divergent). The opposite diagrams show therelations between the eccentriccylinder's position and the air blastdirection at the exit of the cylinder.Examples of applicationBC / 6 5DiffuseB C / E FDiffuse2 1 / 6 5DiffuseA B / E FDiffuseB C / 6 5DiffuseB C / E FDiffuse1.8 m(6 ft)1.8 m(6 ft)max. 3 m (10 ft)max. 4 m (13 ft)During assembly, the NAD stickermust always be placed on the sameside as the air input connection. For air input on top and wallinstallation, follow instructions oftechnical draw.max. 6 m (20 ft)IndexingRangeVolume Flowmin. max.C DDivergingB C - D EDivergingC DDiverging1.8 m(6 ft)Air jet on one sideAirinputconnector(collet)C D / E FDiffuseC D / E FDiffuse1.8 m(6 ft)Cylinders at 2 1 Cylinders at 6 5Subject to technical changes. NAD KLimaLinear diffuserSpecifications for SAL 351 - Description and Physical Characteristics1.1 The SAL 35 ceiling air diffusers from NAD Klima, compriseextruded aluminum profiles with one or two or more slots(due to combining units) of a 35 mm width, with eccentriccylinders in ABS plastic material available in flat black orwhite.1.2 The eccentric NAD Klima cylinders of 100 mm length areentirely individually adjustable and can rotate fully (360°).As a result, the SAL 35 remains entirely adjustable, providing the whole range of diffusion possibilities.1.3 The diffuser is supplied with support profile or narrowprofile.2 - Performance2.1 The SAL 35 diffuser ensures a high rate of induction evenin a variable volume situation, maintaining an acceptabletemperature differential at the air blast. Thisdifferential is the difference between the temperature atsetpoint and the temperature of the air projected by thediffuser into an occupied zone.2.2 The SAL 35 diffuser's performance is assured by simulationsoftware, indicating pressure drop and soundpower generated and showing a cross-sectional view ofthe critical airflow distance and the nominal velocity inan occupied zone in cooling , heating and isothermalmodes, at a height of 1.8 m from the floor or accordingto engineers' requirements.3 - Connection3.1 The diffuser is supplied complete with a plenumfabricated by the manufacturer. It is made of gauge 24galvanized steel and is equipped with suspension pointsat the four corners. The input brace is centred on theside and adapted to the projected airflow rate. Theinside joints are sealed with silicone.3.2 The SAL 35 diffuser includes a stabilizing (equalizing)plate for the airflow rate.4 -Balancing4.1 The SAL 35 diffuser's balancing must be carried out by atechnician trained in ventilation system balancingholding a certificate of professional competence from arecognized institution.5- Quality required: NAD Klima, model SAL 3514 1.1.3 SAL 35Subject to technical changes.
