CATHEDRAL OF ST. BARBARA IN KUTNÁ HORA UNESCO<br />

Cathedral St. Barbara, the patron of m<strong>in</strong>ers, is one of the most valuable<br />

late gothic sites <strong>in</strong> the Czech Republic built by the most important architect<br />

guilds between 1403 and mid 1500s. <strong>The</strong> complete plan was f<strong>in</strong>ally<br />

completed dur<strong>in</strong>g the reconstruction at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.<br />

ÈESKÝ ŠTERNBERK<br />

<strong>The</strong> castle was founded <strong>in</strong> 1241 by<br />

Zdeslav z Divišova. In 1467, it was<br />

conquered by the royal army and<br />

returned to Sternbergs by K<strong>in</strong>g Vladislav<br />

II <strong>in</strong> 1479. <strong>The</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>ally gothic<br />

castle was rebuilt <strong>in</strong> the early<br />

baroque style <strong>in</strong> the 17th century. email:<br />

ÈESKÝ KRUMLOV UNESCO<br />

<strong>The</strong> first records of the castle date from the year 1253 by the Lords of<br />

Krumlov. From 1302 it belonged to Rosenbergs. <strong>The</strong> last Rosenberg, Petr<br />

Vok, sold it to Emperor Rudolph II. <strong>The</strong> upper castle is from the 1st half<br />

of the 14th century (<strong>in</strong> 1394, Bohemian K<strong>in</strong>g Wenceslas IV was imprisoned<br />

there by the opposition) was extended around 1440 and modified <strong>in</strong><br />

the renaissance style <strong>in</strong> the 16th century. <strong>The</strong> oldest part is the Small<br />

Castle with a 76 m tower. It is from the 2nd half of the 13th century. email:<br />

HLUBOKÁ CHATEAU<br />

On the site of Frohnburg Castle from the 13th century. <strong>The</strong> castle underwent<br />

several modifications to change it <strong>in</strong>to a chateau. Major modifications<br />

took place <strong>in</strong> the the 16th and 17th centuries when it was rebuilt <strong>in</strong><br />

the late baroque style. Its today’s neogothic W<strong>in</strong>dsor shape comes from<br />

1841-71. <strong>The</strong> new chateau project <strong>in</strong>cludes park and land-scape arrangements.<br />
