SherwoodStudents will have the option of purchas<strong>in</strong>g lecture notes for transport physiology or download<strong>in</strong>g themfrom the class website. They will be required to purchase from APS a set of read<strong>in</strong>gs for the discussionsections <strong>in</strong> the second module.Midterms: There will be three midterms: October 18 and November 12, dur<strong>in</strong>g lecture and the thirddur<strong>in</strong>g F<strong>in</strong>al Exam week. The midterms will last one hour and twenty m<strong>in</strong>utes each and will each comprise25% of the f<strong>in</strong>al grade. Note there will be no breaks dur<strong>in</strong>g the 80 m<strong>in</strong> exams. The first midterm will coverthe material <strong>in</strong> the first 10 lectures (Transport Physiology); the second midterm will cover the endocr<strong>in</strong>ephysiology (10 lectures); the third midterm will cover all the material on reproductive physiology (8lectures).THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP EXAMS. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TAKETHESE EXAMS EARLY OR LATE.Ethics: Any form of cheat<strong>in</strong>g will not be tolerated. Students suspected of cheat<strong>in</strong>g will be reported tothe Dean of Academic Affairs.Discussion Section (Lab): Attendance <strong>in</strong> Discussion Sections is required (20 po<strong>in</strong>ts). Active participation<strong>in</strong> discussions is also required (30 po<strong>in</strong>ts). Students will sign up for these sections on the first day of class.The grade for the discussion section will constitute 25% of the f<strong>in</strong>al grade.Quizzes and Read<strong>in</strong>gs: The rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 50 po<strong>in</strong>ts of the grade for the discussion section will be composedof the grade from quizzes, to be given at the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of each discussion session based on the follow<strong>in</strong>gassigned articles and additional articles to be determ<strong>in</strong>ed at a later date. There will not be any assignedarticle for Transport Physiology. However, students are expected to read the Supplemental Material(i.e. the material <strong>in</strong> the notes, but not covered <strong>in</strong> the lectures), on their own and discuss them, along withthe material covered <strong>in</strong> lectures, with their TAs, dur<strong>in</strong>g these sessions.
