What can I do as a volunteer?The Henry Vilas Zoo is committed to making sure that there is a wide range of fun andexciting volunteer opportunities for everyone.Animal Ambassador (educator)Be the teacher! This is one of our most important volunteer services. Thisrequires a more intense training program and thus we ask that you are dedicatedand consistent with volunteer hours. Our Zoological Society staff and zookeepers will train you more specifically on different animals and the Zoo’smission, purpose, vision, goals and values so you become the expert. You willthen share specific information to the general public around the Zoo. Come help us behind the scenes at ourZoological Society Department offices. This is our non-profit agency where ourmain goal is to collect donation to keep our zoo open for free, 365 days a year.Here you will be assisting our staff around the office with duties such as;processing donations, data entry, assemble mailings and other office related taskson an ongoing basis.EdZOOcationHandle the animals! This is the only volunteer opportunity that involves touchingand handling the animals. The main focus of this program is to educate visitorson our mission of the zoo. Because this is a high skill position it requires moretraining and we ask that you be able to give one day a week. Greet visitors as they enter and exit the Zoo and answer basic questionsthey may have.
