Thiswill involve planning a interdisciplinary education effort, through the establishment ofcross-functional teams of faculty and students from disciplines of engineering, designand management science.7.2 Non-Degree Programmes7.2.1 Workshop seriesCourses and seminars are organized about design's role in achieving technical andbusiness success. These courses range from half-day, in-house programs to three-daycourses about the design of the workplace. The courses also offer an opportunity for theexchange of ideas among business executives, designers and business school faculty.A typical example is the series of Advanced Worshops organized by the Center ofInnovation, Technology and Policy Research, at IST – Lisbon, as inhttp://in3.dem.ist.utl.pt/adv/workshops/.7.2.2 Executive EducationExecutive and continuing education programmes are intended to educate current andfuture business leaders about how to integrate engineering design disciplines in thecourse of doing business and implementing business strategy. The programmes will berelying in both theoretical and practical approach of Industrial Engineering Design witha strong component of case studies. These courses shall be converted in recognizedcredits for Degree Post-Graduation Programs. The new information and communicationtechnologies shall be used on these courses as well as the learning models shall be basedon open and distance learning methodologies.8 Cooperation8.1 National cooperationThe projects in the IST Design Studio are intended to be devolped in close collaborationwith at least one industrial partner, encouraging people from industry to give activeinput to students.
