Humboldt & DistrictMuseum & GalleryTemporary Exhibits 2008-2009SaskTel – “Ahead by a Century” – September 9-27The Museum Association of Saskatchewan in partnership withSaskTel is proud to present the SaskTel Centennial Exhibit, incelebration of SaskTel’s 100 th Anniversary in 2008. You are invitedto the Opening Reception for this exhibit on September 11 from1:30 – 4:00 pm.We will also be displaying a myriad of styles, types and coloursof phones. From wood to plastic, large to small – phones havechanged drastically over the years. These unique telephones fromlocal collectors will be on display from September 9 toNovember 15.Author Reading – Robert J. AdamsTuesday, September 9 at 7:30 pmRobert Adams was a member of the Humboldt detachment of the R.C.M.P in the early 1960s. Adam’s book, HorseCop, includes stories of his first posting in Humboldt.Wendy Parson and the Rural Roundel – October 1 -25Wendy Parson’s current body of work focuses on the dichotomy between the realities of contemporary farmingand the nostalgic reminiscences of a rural based population. Through a series of large, high and low reliefpaper clay wall sculptures, she is examining our attachment to farm animals and the land. This exhibit is proudlysponsored by Conexus and the Humboldt Area Visual Arts Committee. The exhibition travels throughout theprovince through the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Council.Festival of Wreaths – November 13 – December 4The annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Friends of the Museum. View the donated wreaths, swags,centerpieces, trees, quilted items, original works of art and food. All items will be sold at the auction on Thursday,December 4.
