<strong>Humboldt</strong> & District<strong>Museum</strong> & GalleryTemporary Exhibits 2008-2009SaskTel – “Ahead by a Century” – September 9-27The <strong>Museum</strong> Association <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan in partnership withSaskTel is proud to present the SaskTel Centennial Exhibit, incelebration <strong>of</strong> SaskTel’s 100 th Anniversary in 2008. You are invitedto the Opening Reception for this exhibit on September 11 from1:30 – 4:00 pm.We will also be displaying a myriad <strong>of</strong> styles, types and colours<strong>of</strong> phones. From wood to plastic, large to small – phones havechanged drastically over the years. These unique telephones fromlocal collectors will be on display from September 9 toNovember 15.Author Reading – Robert J. AdamsTuesday, September 9 at 7:30 pmRobert Adams was a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Humboldt</strong> detachment <strong>of</strong> the R.C.M.P in the early 1960s. Adam’s book, HorseCop, includes stories <strong>of</strong> his first posting in <strong>Humboldt</strong>.Wendy Parson and the Rural Roundel – October 1 -25Wendy Parson’s current body <strong>of</strong> work focuses on the dichotomy between the realities <strong>of</strong> contemporary farmingand the nostalgic reminiscences <strong>of</strong> a rural based population. Through a series <strong>of</strong> large, high and low reliefpaper clay wall sculptures, she is examining our attachment to farm animals and the land. This exhibit is proudlysponsored by Conexus and the <strong>Humboldt</strong> Area Visual Arts Committee. The exhibition travels throughout theprovince through the Organization <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan Arts Council.Festival <strong>of</strong> Wreaths – November 13 – December 4The annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Museum</strong>. View the donated wreaths, swags,centerpieces, trees, quilted items, original works <strong>of</strong> art and food. All items will be sold at the auction on Thursday,December 4.
